PRODUCT MANAGER- Electrical, Chemical, Fire, Rescue & Disposable
Protective Industrial Products, Inc. (PIP), a global organization headquartered in Latham, NY, is a leading provider of hand protection and PPE to the Industrial and Construction markets. We are currently searching for a Product Manager to oversee and develop technical protective products which include but are not limited to the Electrical Safety, Chemical, Fire & Rescue and Disposable hand protection markets . Our ideal candidate should understand the life cycle of products and be capable of detailed analysis to understand both market and competitive conditions necessary for new products to succeed. This person will be involved in all aspects of product line management and all stages of product development from concept, sourcing, item set up, quality, launch and delivery. The ideal candidate has a prior background in Product Management with prior experience in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) strongly preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
This position reports to the Director of Product Management, and has the following core responsibilities:
Develop and manage excess and obsolete inventory plans and inventory reduction programs.
Support internal and external sales teams in their execution of initiatives relating to new product introductions and product line promotions.
Collaborate with the domestic and global sourcing teams and the Director of Product Management on new product development initiatives and all necessary supporting Voice of Customer (VoC) programs.
Communicate with suppliers and conveying product specific information in a clear, concise manner to ensure timely resolution of product line management issues, development projects and delivery of all approvals, quality requirements, and samples.
Monitor customer complaints and internal and external field sales reports to determine potential quality related issues. Works with Inventory Management, Purchasing and Global Sourcing to resolve product issues in a timely manner.
Aid forecasting accuracy through detailed analysis of sales and collaboration with inventory planning.
Prepare new product samples for internal meetings and sales presentations.
Compile, analyze and maintain product, product line and market reports as needed.
Monitor product inventory and reviews all incoming product samples. Alerts Global Sourcing and suppliers regarding product changes or potential quality issues.
Partner with testing agencies to coordinate standards testing as needed.
Organize a system of receiving, tracking, and approving new product samples.
Collaborate with Marketing and Graphics on all collateral material such as artwork, packaging, presentations and sell sheets. Understanding and assisting Marketing to communicate the customer benefits of all assigned products and brands.
Review and approve packaging and sales materials such as catalogs, web site, spec sheets and sell sheets for correct product information.
Ensure that product information is correct and that all new products are entered into the product information data base system.
Up to 25% North American travel required for field sales support. These activities would include: attending and presenting at distributor and rep group meetings, accompanying the external sales force on distributor and end user customer visits, attending industry trade shows and completing distributor and end user VOC projects. One or two international trips per year may be necessary to visit suppliers and to meet with the Global sourcing team.
COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in business, operations or related discipline.
4-8 years of relevant experience, preferably in a product management or commercial position with an industrial business.
