Description

Overall Responsibility


Responsibilities include supervising, assisting with the planning and coordinating the operations of the clinic to include: Supervising therapy aides, PTAs and students (as applicable) in monitoring delivery of patient services and acting as liaison with patients, physicians and staff within the clinic and throughout Ventura Orthopedics locations.

Therapist Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Monitor delivery of patient services to include regular review of patient activity to forecast and prepare for all changes needed or impacted by patient load, staffing levels, government regulations and policies. Must be current with all payer requirements and policies.

• In conjunction with HR and Therapy Manager and Director, recruit, supervise and direct all staff to ensure efficient clinic operation and quality customer service while embodying the mission statement and promoting the culture of Ventura Orthopedics.

• Provide routine input for the review of staff performance.

• Maintain clinic physical space, including equipment.

• Work with department manager to develop annual budget items to insure proper provision of clinical care.

• Routinely attend Therapy meetings.

• Consistently communicate with Therapy clinic managers, Director of Therapy, CEO, Administration staff, Physicians and Medical clinic managers to ensure quality patient experience.

• Participate in special projects, as needed, which may require reviewing and analyzing information, identifying problems and recommending solutions.

• Perform and document an initial exam.

• Plan, prepare and carry out individually designed programs of therapy to restore, improve or maintain function, alleviate pain and progress to independence of exercise program.

• Identify and document functional goals, anticipated progress and plans for re-evaluation and discharge.

• Confer with patient, family and referring practitioner to properly plan and oversee patient treatment and progress.

• Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures and exercises to be continued at home.

• Record prognosis, treatment, response and progress via eCW in a timely manner. Maintain MD prescription, as needed.

Education and/or Experience


Must have completed an accredited physical or occupational therapy education program and passed the required licensure exam.

Must possess an active California license, in good standing.

Must possess current CPR certification.

Participation in recent continuing education programs related to PT or OT, per licensing requirements.

Fundamental understanding of health care policies, including, but not limited to, government regulations.

Language Skills


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively with patients, outside vendors or other employees within the organization. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.

Mathematical Skills


Basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing figures. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and percentages.

Reasoning Ability


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time; constantly operates a computer and other office/medical machinery; must be able to frequently communicate with patients, staff, providers; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee in this position needs to frequently move about the office. The employee frequently moves and or transports up to 50 pounds. The employee frequently is required to position self to assist patients and move equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to identify, recognize, observe, inspect both patients and equipment.

Work Environment


Work is performed in an office area. Work may be challenging at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Contact involves dealing with sick people and with people in pain. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
