The Strategy Manager role will serve as internal consultant by providing robust strategic analysis to support the business as it develops the strategy required to meet our objectives. Strategy topics include, but are not limited to, marketplace opportunities, developing closer relationships with Pet Parents, and making progress against initiatives that fulfil our mission of making the world a better place for pets (e.g., ending pet homelessness, pet friendly cities). Teammate will be accountable for developing best practices in strategic analysis, development, and deployment. Implement 5Y strategic planning process and embed throughout organization. This is a highly visible roles, and key stakeholders will include other functional VPs, Directors, along with the Senior Leadership Team for major workshops & presentations.
This role reports to the Senior Manager of Strategy & Growth, driving the corporate agenda for Mars Pet Nutrition North America.
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Lead and support cross-functional project teams to manage and execute top-priority strategic initiatives (examples include emerging categories exploration, top-line acceleration, cost improvement, competitor benchmarking, white space analysis).
- Conduct analysis on special projects, develop presentations for senior leadership team, and host working sessions to evaluate and prioritize insights.
- This role will operate as an individual contributor.
- Provide thought leadership and oversee various business intelligence activities.
- Expected to become an expert over time in the pet category and use this knowledge to inform our efforts.
- Effectively collaborate with cross-functional peers, VPs, and critical Global/Corporate stakeholders to drive people, process, and system transformation within Strategy and Growth Transformation.
- Building a Five Principles Mars culture in the Strategy & Growth Transformation team through 80%+ associate engagement, a passion for pets, and a superior experience for our customers.
What experiences are we looking for?
- Proven capability conducting and managing quantitative strategic analysis, including modeling and powerpoint skills.
- Understand how to deliver on short time frames and be committed to meeting deadlines.
- Expertise in CPG industry experience preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate the insights from findings to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Intellectually curious individuals with strong creative and imaginative prowess to generate ideas to solve business problems.
- Personal discretion and maturity to work on highly confidential projects and with senior leaders of the business; integrity and trust are essential.
- Strong service mentality and willingness to perform responsibilities outside of the job description.
- Ability to work on cross-functional teams and provide project management support.
- Be modest in nature, recognizing the accomplishments of the team before the individual.
- Must be proactive, high energy, results-oriented, and willing to drive change.
What education & qualifications are we looking for?
- Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- 1-4 years of professional experience
- Preferred qualifications:
- 2+ years of strategy consulting, corporate development, business development, corporate strategy, investment banking, finance, or related experience
