Job description
Lighthouse Lab Services is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Lab Scientist to join a leading healthcare institution committed to providing high-quality medical services to the Newport News community and beyond. Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the clinical laboratory.
- Perform a variety of complex laboratory tests and analyses to provide accurate and reliable diagnostic information.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Provide leadership and guidance to laboratory staff, including Medical Technologists and Clinical Lab Scientists.
- Conduct training sessions for new staff and facilitate ongoing professional development.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and precision.
- Investigate and resolve any quality control issues promptly.
- Analyze laboratory data and results, preparing comprehensive reports for healthcare professionals.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to interpret test results and provide insights into patient diagnoses.
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to laboratory instruments.
- Stay abreast of advancements in clinical laboratory science and contribute to the development and implementation of new testing methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including CLIA, OSHA, and other relevant standards.
- Participate in inspections and audits, addressing any identified issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
- Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Clinical Lab Scientist, with a demonstrated progression in responsibilities.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems and proficiency in relevant software.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

- Pay range of $25/hr - $38/hr (DOE)
