The Nurse promotes and maintains a healthful living and working environment of clients and staff, and strives to ensure that the optimal achievable quality of nursing care is available to all clients. Nursing staff complete Kan Be Healthy assessments and initial nursing assessments on children referred to residential facilities.
Requirements Required education is Associate's Degree
Other requirements include:
- Disspensing Medication as scheduled.
- Provides education to clients regarding medication and their side effects.
- Checks for needed monthly medication renewals
- Documents all services provided to client and medical needs.
- Files all pertinent medical information weekly.
- Assists in completing nursing assessments on each clients.
- Provides ongoing assessment of the wellness of each client.
- Reviews immunization status during nursing assessments to ensure the status is current.
- Preforms phlebotomy and intramuscular injections using proper techniques.
- Obtains lab specimens as scheduled.
- Provides immunizations as needed for clients.
- Takes and records heights and weights on a monthly basis or more often as needed
- Instructs and documents any client’s needs they have related to allergies, hygiene, medication and health
- Updates weekly progress/order book
- Completes utilization review duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing
- Work with local providers (medical and dental to ensure that all clients receive required medical service
- Implements SFCS policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent SFCS Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), rules, personnel policies and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state and local rules, statutes, regulations, and contractual terms
