Job description

We are searching for an analytically minded auto mechanic to help our repair shop’s customers resolve issues with their vehicles’ performance, structure, appearance, and functionality. Our ideal candidate is comfortable communicating with customers about their vehicles’ performance and maintenance history. You’ll be tasked with inspecting automobiles’ mechanical components, systems, and parts to determine their necessary fixes. You’ll also maintain repair shop equipment and prepare cost estimates. Responsibilities: • Encourage and facilitate preventive maintenance work such as oil changes, air conditioning service, flushing, brake replacement, tire rotation, and more • Perform system inspections, test drives, and diagnostic tests to determine necessary repair work • Ensure accurate record-keeping for vehicle repairs, maintenance, and service history • Pursue continued education opportunities to grow technical skills • Identify and address mechanical problems and malfunction codes found in the vehicle's electrical system, mechanical systems, and electronic systems POSITION SUMMARY:The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for investigating problems with different types of motor vehicles and making repairs accordingly. Their duties include communicating with the shop manager to discuss their concerns, carrying out routine maintenance procedures on motor vehicles and replacing parts on motor vehicles to promote their functionality. Reports to: Shop Manager PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. • Assess vehicles and/or machinery to accurately diagnose and repair issues • Provide routine inspections of vehicles and inform the manager of any issues • Keep an accurate log of all work performed • Maintain and clean garage equipment and tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition at all times • Adhere to company work safety policies KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Strong organization skills and ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment • Time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner • Ability to be self-motivated to thoughtfully create resolutions for non-standard issues • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, customers and vendors MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Years of Experience:  Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in a maintenance shop • Education : High School diploma or G.E.D. • Although a mechanics license is not required, must have the ability to become licensed within 30 days should it become a State requirement • Two (2) years experience as a mechanic. Previous work with heavy-duty trucks is desirable MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE USED: • Usual office equipment including computer, telephone, copier, and calculator WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Primarily office/shop environment TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Moderate walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, reaching; heavy lifting and carrying • Working outside and inside • Exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes • Working around moving objects and machinery with moving parts Qualifications: • Strong work ethic and excellent communication skills are necessary • High school diploma or GED equivalent necessary • Strong manual dexterity and proficiency with hand tools and other repair shop equipment is necessary • Valid driver’s license needed • An associate's degree from a vocational or technical school and/or ASE certification are a plus About Company: Colorado Owned, Colorado Operated: One of a Kind We’re proud to be Denver’s only locally owned and operated waste and recycling hauler.
