About Wausau, WI
At the crossroads of North Central Wisconsin, Wausau is for some the last stop before the north woods. Jews have been prominent members of the community since this area was settled by people of European descent. Traditional industries of lumber, paper and insurance have yielded to healthcare, manufacturing, education (UW-Stevens Point) and recreation. This area has been branded Wisconsin’s Outdoor Basecamp, where you can easily go from your front door to multiple opportunities for nordic and alpine skiing, hiking, all types of biking, paddling our rivers and lakes and then return to enjoy the restaurants, nightlife and cultural opportunities.
