Job Duties:

This employee will conduct state grant related and accounts receivable revenue cycle activities that result in the complete resolution of the claims for ECU Health's NC Statewide Telepsychiatry Program [Center] NCSTeP and NCPACT (North Carolina Psychiatric Access through Community Telepsychiatry Program). Both programs are grant funded statewide initiatives of national importance designed to provide access to psychiatric treatment for patients experiencing behavioral problems that may be located in areas that have limited access to psychiatric care. The program is continually involving with new initiatives and funding sources being identified and implemented, thus the incumbent must be a critical thinker, adapt quickly to new business needs and be able to compile and analyze relevant financial data and emergent operational needs. This person will collaborate closely with the the Center's leadership and understands grant requirements and how integrate them in systems and operational workflows.
Insurance Representatives provide third party payment revenue support for all ECU Health clinical site services. They are responsible for proper and timely billing as it relates to ECU Health professional medical claims, follow up and collection of revenues from insurance companies. Employees will have to be knowledgeable of compliance trends as it relates to billing and reimbursement, and assist in the prevention of potential errors that could be considered fraudulent or abusive by a third party payer. Employees serve as ECU Health revenue cycle representatives for their clinical specialty when third party payer on-site meetings are conducted, and serve as ECU Health revenue cycle representatives for their clinical specialty in clinical departmental coding and PAS meetings as needed.

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as its teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.

Organizational Unit Overview:

ECU Health is a multi-specialty, Academic Medical Group with over 500 billing providers. The practice provides approximately 600,000 outpatient, 155,000 emergency room and 126,000 inpatient services annually to over 165,000 patients. Clinical Finance and Business Support Services reports to the ECU Health Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice Chancellor of ECU Health Sciences Finance and Administration to support key fiscal and operational components of the clinical practice and revenue cycle operations. These include direct management responsibility for staffing and operations in the centralized functions of the Central Billing Office ( CBO ) and oversight for decentralized activities. Centralized functions include: Payor Contracting and Evaluation, Regulatory Compliance and Credentialing; Computer System and Procedure Training; Insurance and Patient Billing, Follow-up and Collections; Cash Management of Professional Fee Revenue; Business Intelligence Services such a Reporting and Analytics; Coordinated Patient Access Support; and Contact Center Decentralized functions include: Registration, Referral Management, Pre-Service Financial Preparation; Service Identification and Reconciliation; Coding and Charge Entry; system implementations, Project and Change Managed, and Process Improvement.
