Job description
Manages and supports of all radiology information systems. Participates in the Radiology Management Team and serves as the department’s liaison to the Information Systems Department, and hardware and software vendors. Coordinates software product evaluations, analysis, and design for inter- and intradepartmental systems projects. Plans, coordinates, and manages system implementations, upgrades, and changes. Manages members of the RIS/PACs team while directly collaborating with the Director of Radiology Informatics, Radiology Management team and the AVP of Radiology on the strategic vision and deployment of all information technology within the department.
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversees and engages in the management of the Radiology Information Systems including voice recognition, picture archiving and communications and radiology support services including transcription, billing, film library operations, radiology scheduling, radiology reception and help desk functions.
- Provides clinical and technical planning and input for system designs and remodeling, demonstrates the ability to forecast needs, ascertain costs, exercise vision, and obtain consensus with staff.
- Performs analysis, prepares implementation timelines for enhancements, software/hardware upgrades and conversions for all departmental information systems.
- Leads strategic and tactical planning activities for “state of the art” Radiology technology initiatives.
- Communicates specifications to vendors and appropriate Medical Center departments as needed. Assists departmental personnel with operational design associated with, or because of, system changes.
- Writes Requests for Proposals and acquires vendor quotes for software customization and software upgrades, and new products.
- Plans and manages hardware/software installation, training, testing, and system acceptance.
- Promotes interdepartmental cooperation by serving as a liaison with medical staff, administration, and other hospital departments. Plans for changes involving other departments and troubleshoots to minimize conflicts.
- Implements and adheres to budget based on selection and negotiations with vendors, Inventory Management, implementation or changes in services, management of salary base and overtime expenses, maintenance accountability for expenses and corrective action as required.
- Responsible for Managed Care guidelines, including working with subordinates and any outside departments necessary to ensure all managed care guidelines are followed for proper billing and coding.
- Values and responds to customer feedback by developing plans to take corrective action or improve services. Investigates patient and employee incidents, gathers information, evaluates, and takes effective corrective action when necessary.

Schedule Details: Hybrid 3-4; A caregiver who consistently reports to work at a UMMH building 3-4 days a week. Full Time, 8 hour shifts. Position Qualifications: License/Certification/Education: Required: - Bachelor’s degree in computer science or health related field.
Preferred: Experience/Skill: Required: - Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Computer Science field.
- Understanding of radiological workflows and the effect of information systems on these workflows.
- Must have proven project planning work experience for the design and implementation of new/updated Information Systems.
- Solid understanding of statistical methods and budget management.
- Must be able to analyze data, prioritize workload and have proven decision-making skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve interpersonal or professional conflicts when dealing with members of organization to include peers, subordinates, patients, physicians, nurses, and all other staff.
- Excellent communication and technical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Preferred: - Previous supervisory experience.
- Specific Radiology Information Systems experience.
