Job description

Department Summary:
You will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive learning environment for our students. Your responsibilities include maintaining regular communication with facilitators and students, providing feedback, grading assignments, and ensuring smooth course delivery through our learning management system. Additionally, you will contribute to student engagement by posting relevant news items and events, and monitoring student progress to address any concerns promptly.

Responsibilities:

Initiate and maintain regular contact with facilitators and students regarding student progress.
Log in to the learning management system at least once daily throughout the assigned course term.
Respond to student emails, provide feedback on activities, grade assignments, and monitor student participation.
Monitor student login times and address any concerns or irregularities with appropriate stakeholders.
Post news items and events to keep students and facilitators informed of course activities and assignments.
Preview all activities, links, and quizzes in the learning management system before assigning them to students.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and experience in a related field of study.
Certification to teach in the State of Alabama (grades 6-12).
Classroom experience in the relevant content area.
Successful completion of the fingerprint/background check required by the Alabama State Department of Education for work Distance Learning Initiative.
Participation in Advanced Placement (AP) training for AP course instructors, if applicable.
Skills and Knowledge:

Proficiency in using the learning management system and other necessary resources for course delivery.
Expertise in the specific content area and instructional methodology.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and internet skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, facilitators, and school administration.
Ability to teach within a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver high-quality instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:

Three years of teaching experience in Alabama or exceptional achievements.
Enthusiasm for teaching in a digital learning environment.
Knowledge of K-12 public schools.
