About the Project 

enFocus has partnered with Goshen Health to aid in the completion of the Community Health Needs Assessment. As a nonprofit hospital, Goshen Health System is required to complete a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) every three years. The last CHNA was completed in 2021 and implementation strategies were adopted by the Board of Directors in May 2022. enFocus recently completed its first project with Goshen Health System and is well positioned to conduct the CHNA, given its experience completing numerous data collection, strategic planning, and program development efforts with many organizational partners across Elkhart County and the region at large. The CHNA process requires primary and secondary data collection and analysis to uncover community health needs that can be prioritized and addressed through new and existing programs. 

Intern Responsibilities

• Assist with secondary data collection from provided sources and analysis and reporting of findings on significant health issues.
• Assist with primary data collection and analysis through survey design, distribution, and data analysis support.
• Collaborate with the CHNA planning team to interpret findings and identify priority health needs.
• Contribute to the development of CHNA reports, presentations, and other deliverables.

Required Skills

• Analytical Skills: Proficiency in statistical analysis and data interpretation.
• Transportation: Ability to independently distribute CHNA marketing materials around the geographic service area for Goshen Health, including Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, and Noble Counties.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to clean, organize, and manipulate datasets accurately.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
• (not required, but Spanish fluency is a preferred skill)

Compensation

This position will be paid hourly, based on qualifications and experience.

In-Person Requirement

enFocus is looking for a semester-based intern who is available to work 5-8 hours per week, and attend in-person meetings as needed, between March 4th and May 6th. A portion of the internship requires transportation to distribute outreach materials across the Elkhart County Area.
