Mission or Goal of Unit: Asacademic physicians in the evolving field of ophthalmology, we strive toimprove the vision and eye health of all people by excelling in patient care,education and research.
Chief Purpose of this position: TheDepartment of Ophthalmology at the Virginia Commonwealth University MedicalCenter supports a large health system providing both primary and tertiary care.We are seeking candidates who will be responsible for direct patient care andsupervision in various outpatient ophthalmology settings that include the MainCampus of VCU Health, V.A. Medical Center, and suburban ASC locations.
Position Responsibilities: Candidatemust maintain high clinical and ethical standards that will be carried intodecision-making processes, adhere to compliance measures, establish and promotean atmosphere of unity through collaborative practice and effectivecommunication between all staff disciplines, and foster a high level of patientand staff satisfaction. The incumbent in this position will have a widerange of responsibilities, including fulfilling clinical duties and teaching to include medical students, interns, and residents.
Required Qualifications: The incumbentmust have completed an Optometry Residency, with advanced training in Contact Lens Fitting and Ocular Disease. Candidate must also possess/maintain a current, full and unrestricted license to practice optometry in the State of Virginia.. Thecandidate will have excellent clinical skills and mustdemonstrate expertise working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, andstudent environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
