A fast-growing and high-impact startup that makes smart beds for people with cognitive conditions like Epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy, Dementia, and Autism. Our mission is to improve the lives of special needs kids and their families through our innovative products and go-to-market strategies. When you join Cubby, you’re joining a team of entrepreneurs and creators who are on a mission to change the lives of thousands of special needs families. We are growing at lightning speed and are seeking a senior financial leader to help support our growth.
You would be a key executive on our leadership team and build, manage, and scale our entire finance function. You will oversee all aspects of Cubby’s financial health - providing executive-level direction and strategic oversight for financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and reporting.
As a member of our leadership team, you will report to our CEO. As the VP of Finance, you will be working closely with various key stakeholders like Growth, Operations, and People teams across the organization. Over time, you will build a team to fully support and scale the finance function and the hyper-growth of Cubby.

Build and lead our finance and accounting function, providing executive-level direction & strategic oversight for all aspects of Cubby’s financial health
Establish a financial strategic vision, objectives, policies, and procedures in support of the overall strategic plan
Drive transparency and understanding of Cubby’s finances and financial strategies across the management team and company, ensuring that leadership has what they need to make data-informed decisions
Lead financial planning, forecasting, and analysis, including financial modeling and scenario analysis. Develop strong cash flow strategies and risk management, ensuring adequate liquidity for operational needs
Manage overall day-to-day financial planning across the company, including revenue and COGS recognition timing, payroll, operating and non-operating expenses, and capital investments
Manage financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements and regulatory compliance
Partner with the executives and the People Team on headcount planning, merit increases, variable compensation programs, and additional discretionary bonuses, reconciling relevant accruals and quarterly payout schedules
Partner with the Operations Team and top suppliers to identify areas to improve COGS and cash flow while maintaining efficiency and quality
Partner with the Business Development Team to develop & execute partner incentive programs, as well as manage credit limits, payment programs, and credit holds
Own & manage all Cubby insurance and sales tax partners, policies, and renewals
Hire & manage a Cubby accounting team, and build strong processes for distributor invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory cost accounting
Own & manage company equity software, including administration of employee option grants in partnership with the People Team and CEO
Communicate around Cubby’s finances with the board of directors and capital partners
Manage relationships with banks, auditors, other financial institutions, and legal
Ensure Cubby operations stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in financial regulations
Here’s what we’re looking for
At least 10 years of finance leadership experience
Experience in healthcare billing and revenue cycle management
Experience in manufacturing and scaling a physical product business is a plus
Experienced in building and leading a team in a high-growth environment
Strong leadership and motivational skills to build a strong and cohesive culture and teamwork mentality
Clear and structured communication skills
An entrepreneurial mindset. Rolling up your sleeves, thrive in ambiguity, test and learn culture, and get things done
Experience working with health insurance companies is a plus
Understanding of the healthcare/health insurance company claims billing processes is a plus
Experience from a digital health/med tech startup is a plus

$220-250K hiring range - Cubby offers an exciting OTE (On-Target Earnings) program to motivate and celebrate collective success in achieving company goals. This total compensation package is inclusive of 85% base compensation + 15% variable pay when targets are met. If the team exceeds quarterly target amounts, there is an additional 2X accelerator that increases variable pay potential beyond what’s listed here.
