Your Opportunity with ECG: Application Architect

As an application architect, you’ll oversee the design process of our application software and software integration. Applications include, but are not limited to, Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft 365. The ideal candidate is open to new challenges, excellent at multitasking, technically minded, and experienced in the process of software development and enjoys learning new technologies. The position reports to the IT applications manager and may be based in any of our ECG offices, but preference will be given to candidates who can work out of our Seattle or Chicago office.

Your Responsibilities May Include:

• Creating, maintaining, and monitoring enterprise architecture design principles, standards, and processes for application development, testing methodologies, and integration.
• Designing, developing/configuring, and maintaining assigned enterprise applications or system integrations.
• Performing design and code reviews for enterprise applications.
• Collaborating with IT customers to ensure the architecture is aligned with business requirements, as well as providing training, communication, and documentation that is appropriate for the desired audience.
• Identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency of application development processes to reduce IT costs and/or create automation of processes; evaluating build versus buy; and implementing recommendations.
• Assessing operational limitations/gaps, suggesting improvements, and providing technical leadership to implement these improvements.
• Developing approaches to assess system performance, identifying ways to optimize performance, and participating in implementing these improvements; effectively communicating these changes to users.
• Evaluating and recommending new technologies and application architecture-related methodologies.
• Providing support, documentation, and training of IT staff to ensure high levels of business performance and that there is a well-trained backup to support assigned applications if the primary resource is absent.
• Providing work estimates, risk assessments, and/or ROI analyses to help IT leadership prioritize projects, system implementations, enhancements, and upgrades.
• Attending educational workshops, seminars, conferences, online training, etc. to grow your existing job knowledge and skill.
• Participating in the evaluation of potential new hires and mentoring existing employees.

Our Expectations of You

• Bachelor’s degree in computing science, information systems, or similar; four years of related work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement
• Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills; strong writing skills
• Excellent organizational skills; project management experience is a plus
• 10+ years of experience with databases and software development in an enterprise environment; experience with SharePoint, ERP, or CRM software is strongly preferred
• Experience with programming and programming design concepts: C#, React, TypeScript, PowerShell, and other web technologies
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Azure DevOps, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, PnP, and SharePoint Framework (SPFx)
• Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 community and SPFx
• Experience conducting system selection projects and/or the vendor RFP process
• Reporting experience; SSRS, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Power Query, or Power Pivot experience is a plus
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues; experience with an IT ticket tracking system is a plus
• Experience with application security and system integration; HIPAA exposure is a plus
• Experience with cloud-based applications is a plus
• Availability to work the occasional weekend and/or evenings for planned implementations or system maintenance
• Ability to travel 10% of the time

Job Locations

The candidate must be based near an ECG office. Preference will be given to candidates in Seattle or Chicago, but other ECG offices include Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Minneapolis, San Diego, St. Louis, and Washington, DC. In this role, you’ll be able to work remotely.
