The eDiscovery Paralegal will perform legal hold matter management and electronically stored information (“ESI”) processing activities necessary to prepare data for attorney and paralegal review. They will log and track legal hold memorandum, conduct custodian interviews, create ESI collection projects for IT Security processing and assist in data deliverable activities required for Legal Hold matter management. The ideal candidate has demonstrated knowledge of the legal system, legal terminology, the legal hold process and is technically savvy.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Responsibilities
- Assist legal teams directly as an internal consultant with Legal Hold distribution, custodian interviews, data identification, collection, review, analysis, and production of ESI to support the Corporate Litigation team.
- Distribute legal hold memorandum using in-house technology, Exterro Fusion, M365 etc. and monitor compliance.
- Assist eDiscovery Manager with legal hold matter management
- Perform advanced collection, processing, and analysis of collected ESI and deliver processed data and reports in a timely fashion.
- Solve basic technical issues, provide support, and escalate to eDiscovery Manager as needed.
- Assist in identifying, preserving, collecting, processing, analyzing, reviewing, producing, and presenting ESI while maintaining chain of custody to verify data integrity.
- Follows best practices for deliverables by performing quality control checks to ensure work product accuracy.
- Perform miscellaneous paralegal tasks such as docket alert monitoring, copy service engagement, and legal research as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and/or a certification from a nationally accredited paralegal training institution or three years of related experience performing paralegal duties in a litigation support environment utilizing advanced eDiscovery systems/tools.
- Proficiency with data hosting services, case administration, loading data into database applications, performing queries, preparing exports, processing and ingesting ESI etc.
- Strong understanding of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM)
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and facilitation) with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff in a clear manner.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Basic understanding of the concept of personal identifiable information (PII) and an understanding of the legal protections afforded to such information is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and operating systems.
- Experience with software applications common to the eDiscovery process, including processing and hosting tools, such as Exterro Fusion, Relativity, Nebula etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Maintains high-quality standards and attention to detail in work product.
