Position description The Global Health Program (GHP) at UC San Diego seeks a variable appointed Academic Coordinator II. The Academic Coordinator II (AC) position will contribute to the undergraduate program and the Masters of Arts graduate program which has been set up as a one-year program. The programs provide students with an interdisciplinary curriculum that educates them on urgent social concerns and equips them with the ability to understand and productively intervene in processes of health, illness and healing across the globe. The AC will work on overseeing the undergraduate and Masters program, making improvements and further develops. The AC role will be working towards establishing UCSD Global Health Program as a distinguished program of the UC system and beyond. The specific duties of this position will involve:
- Academic program planning and development
- Assessment and evaluation of academic program activities and functions
- Liaison
- Potential supervising (staff, students and volunteers)
The AC II will be variable with a concurrent teaching appointment as a Unit 18 lecturer under the Global Health Program. This position is expected to be a full time appointment between AC II and lecturer. Department :
Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
A PhD with training in medical anthropology, global health, public health/social epidemiology, or other medical social science/medical humanities. Preferred qualifications - Experience in initiating, implementing and developing programs
- Experience in curriculum development and teaching.
- Experience in leadership roles, entrepreneurial experience in system design, and experience as a change-maker.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
