Duties/Responsibilities:
• Demonstrates the ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and electrical diagrams.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Possesses a sense of urgency to resolve issues and meet deadlines while working in a collaborative team environment.
• Collaborates with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations personnel to address plant issues and incorporate new equipment, capabilities, and controls into plant operations.
• Independently manages automation and control improvement projects.
• Provides technical guidance and expertise to enhance troubleshooting skills and controls expertise of Maintenance technicians.
• Ensures uniformity of component specifications, system design, and documentation.
• Provides after-hours telephone support and on-site troubleshooting assistance as needed.
• Works across departments to develop a culture of root cause problem identification and solution while encouraging a high level of cross-functional communication.
• Supports operational performance improvement efforts to reduce costs, improve efficiency, reliability, and quality, which may require working some weekends and holidays.
• Ensures the highest levels of safety, quality, sanitation, and regulatory compliance with NEC and other codes and standards.
• Demonstrates leadership in compliance with plant safety rules, GMP regulations, and company safety programs.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Possesses excellent documentation skills and strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Has a full complement of business computer literacy skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
• Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and knowledge of GMPs.
• Possesses a good understanding of motor control circuits and an in-depth understanding of Ethernet communication protocols.
Education/Experience:
• Preferred qualifications include a BS in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years of experience.
• Has 2+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting manufacturing controls and electrical systems.
• Proficient in Allen Bradley equipment and systems, including ControlLogix, HMIs, SLC-500 and RS5000 series, Factory Talk ME, and VFDs.
• Experience with automated equipment in the chemical, food, or beverage processing industry is a plus.
• Process improvement experience and previous demonstrated leadership and team building experience are required.
• SCADA/MES experience (Ignition Preferred) and proficiency with AutoCAD for electrical drawings.
• Possesses strong electrical knowledge, both control (24v DC) and high voltage (480v 3P), and electrical knowledge (National Electrical Code) and control system design to meet NEC and NFPA requirements.
• Has hands-on experience calibrating/setting up industrial instrumentation, flowmeters, level sensors, and others.
• Must be a self-starter with a high-level of integrity and honesty.
• Demonstrates the ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, etc.
• Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds at a time
