Job description

Responsibilities

OPPD is hiring a Release Service Engineer. The Release Service Engineer is accountable for managing the implementation release process from development through execution. They are accountable for verifying that each release meets all governance requirements and follows defined procedures. The Release Service Engineer is responsible for supporting release deployments to meet stakeholder needs and expectations. They work with Application Services, Application Support, and Quality Assurance to ensure the integrity of the development, quality assurance, test, and production environments. They use their subject matter expertise to help technical teams identify technical issues and resolve production incidents. The Release Engineer is responsible for advancing technologies, tools, and processes to facilitate automation of releases.

Release Services Operations

• Responsible for maintaining a centralized application and for maintaining access to the release repositories
• Accountable for verifying that releases are planned, documented, coordinated, communicated, executed, and validated in accordance with Release Services requirements
• Collaborate with technical teams and business partners to establish application specific release windows
• Responsible for providing training and guidance on Release Management governance standards and processes

Strategy & Planning

• Participate in the development and maintenance of Release Services governance standards and procedures
• Responsible for identifying and championing continuous process improvement efforts including preforming data queries, analysis, reporting and trending

Product Acquisition & Deployment

• Participate in product selection sessions to assess services, applications, or systems against OPPD Release Services standards and non-functional requirements

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of experience in a similar role, or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills to perform the essential job functions
• Experience with Source Control Management and Automation tools
• Experience with Unix, Linux, Windows, Python, and Groovy
• Experience with continuous process improvement including analyzing usage of tools, methodologies, best practices, and implementation designs related to release management and version control
• Experience with DevOps, Agile, PMP, and Waterwall frameworks and best practices
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills and flexibility to respond to changing priorities with minimum supervision
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
• Strong technical writing skills

Desired

• Experience with Bitbucket, Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, Red Hat Ansible, and Mulesoft
• Knowledgeable in system architecture design, configuration, and management

Certification in SAFe Release Train Engineer; ITIL Foundation
