Job description

The Lutheran Home is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team on a PRN basis. You will be responsible for assisting our occupational therapists in providing occupational therapy treatments and procedures.  In this role, you will assist in the implementation and documentation of progress of treatments for residents we see within our health center.  

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Provide skilled assistance and instruction on ordered therapeutic components designed to meet established goals.
• Appropriately test or measure joint range-of-motion, manual muscle strength, vital signs, or other objective tests to determine effects of treatments.
• Transport patients to and from treatment area, lifting and transferring them according to positioning requirements.
• Participate in care plan meetings with other members of the healthcare team as appropriate.
• Confer with occupational therapist to discuss and evaluate resident information planning, modifying or coordinating treatment.
• Assist with discharge planning and recommendations to facilitate safe transition plans for beneficiaries when appropriate.

Education Requirements:

• Successful completion of a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Education Program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education or equivalent.
• Must be licensed in the State of Missouri
• CPR certification preferred
