As a Sr. Product Manager at ESPN Technology, you will be a key leader responsible for shaping and optimizing the video experiences within the ESPN suite of apps. This role demands a seasoned product manager with a deep understanding of human-centered design principles, a proven track record of navigating complex user experience projects, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly in design and engineering. You will work with other product leaders in the video and commerce spaces to define a unified strategic vision for our future work.
Passion for ESPN is at the center of this role; our deliverables revolve heavily around our fans’ love of sports and the ever-evolving sports calendar. The ability and excitement to strategize for a new generation of sports fans and how they engage with our products is vital for this position. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing the overall user engagement and satisfaction across ESPN's digital platforms, while bringing a passion for and knowledge of sports into your everyday work.
Responsibilities
- Develop and communicate a strategic vision for video experiences within ESPN apps, aligning with broader company goals and market trends.
- Champion a human-centered design approach, ensuring that user needs and preferences drive the development of innovative and intuitive video features.
- Work closely with user research teams to conduct studies, gather insights, and incorporate user feedback into the product development process.
- Collaborate seamlessly with design, engineering, content, marketing, and other teams to ensure the successful execution of product initiatives.
- Lead and inspire cross-functional teams in the planning, execution, and delivery of complex user experience projects, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
- Utilize data and analytics to make informed decisions, conduct A/B testing, and continuously iterate on features to optimize performance and user satisfaction.
- Effectively communicate product strategies, updates, and results to stakeholders at all levels, fostering a collaborative and transparent working environment.
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of product management experience or relevant experience required.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
- Past experience focusing on digital video experiences.
- Familiarity and passion for app development on native platforms (iOS/tvOS, Android, Roku, etc).
- Keen product sense and demonstrated product leadership experience.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering and optimizing complex user experience projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Passion for and knowledge of sports translated into your everyday work.
- Experience with analytics tools like Adobe, Conviva, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Business preferred.
- Experience in the sports or entertainment industry preferred.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in digital video streaming.
The hiring range for this position in Bristol, CT and Santa Monica, CA is $142,516 - $191,180 per year, in NYC and Seattle is $156,292 - $209,660 per year and in San Francisco is 163,426 - $219,230 based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
