TITLE : Principal Engineer I
LOCATION : Englewood, CO
JOB SUMMARY: Provide technical expertise on a team responsible for developing the hardware, algorithms, and software of Wi-Fi routers. Define the architecture and design of Charter Advanced Wi-Fi products and features. Partner with product team to define technology solutions and requirements. Develop long-term technology evolution roadmap (3-5 years) articulating the strategic decision points, technology evolution plans, and recommendations regarding technology and network infrastructure investments. Collaborate with feature and firmware teams to evaluate architecture and solutions. Define architecture and solutions for Wi-Fi features and equipment addressing customer-centric wireless use cases. Research and develop wireless technologies and solutions for use at customer premises. Define requirements for Wi-Fi hardware and features. Develop test plans and test cases to validate proposed requirements. Analyze large datasets to assist in proactive network management of larger wireless networks. Collaborate with product owners, vendors, and management to determine and manage functional and non-functional software requirements for Wireless Technology initiatives efforts. Perform in depth performance analysis of wireless networks and products using test equipment such as RF chambers, protocol analyzers and traffic, and waveform generators. Create architecture design artifacts, including Requirements Specifications, Use Cases, Software Design Documents, high-level architecture drawings, and concept of operations diagrams. Investigate and resolve field issues based upon knowledge gained from product logs for the purpose of reproducing issues in the lab.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Must have 3 years of experience prototyping and developing Wi-Fi products, features, and algorithms for radio source management, connection management, quality of service management, and network management of Wi-Fi access points or client devices; 3 years of experience developing standards-based products and features utilizing IEEE 802.11 ac, IEEE 802.11 ax, and chipset solutions; 3 years of experience utilizing standards-based features included in Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 specifications from the Wi-Fi Alliance; 3 years of experience writing and preparing architecture solutions, product design documents, and test cases, in an individual and collaborative capacity; 3 years of experience developing creative and novel solutions to challenging technical problems, including the ability to generate patent applications or publications in the wireless technology area; and 3 years of experience developing and analyzing the performance of embedded Wi-Fi solutions utilizing programming languages such as C or Python and tools such as Matlab, wireshark, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Analyzers, debuggers, or device logging.A hybrid (in office and remote work) arrangement is available. Salaries depend on geography, experience, and education; negotiations begin at $110,800 per year.

The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
