Position Summary:
The Construction Manager – Production Facility will direct and supervise the construction and maintenance of the production facility located in West Valley City, UT. This position will support the Program & Project Integration Manager with the planning and execution of building construction and renovations and ensure they are completed within budget, on schedule, in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements as well as construction laws, and in accordance with the approved facility specifications and design drawings.
What You'll Do:
- Act as the primary point of interface with all construction-related third parties involved in the build-out of the production facility in West Valley City, UT.
- Develop construction master plan, organize work initiation and planning, and direct activities concerned with the construction, commissioning, and renovations of the structures, facilities, and systems.
- Support bid evaluations for construction, procurement of facility systems, and other third-party support as needed such as testing & inspections and commissioning agent.
- Observe and report on construction activities, participate in coordination meetings with contractors and subcontractors, and verify pay applications for work performed.
- Facilitate the flow of timely construction-related information between departments and ensure the leadership team is up-to-date with construction schedule progress and changes.
- Identify and resolve construction, personnel, safety, permitting, schedule, and budget-related issues and escalate as required to the Senior Construction Manager.
- Collaborate with environmental, safety, health, and quality (ESH&Q) experts to ensure construction site plans follow OSHA safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the Nusano engineering team when reviewing engineering drawings provided to Nusano by various contractors in the design of facility systems.
- Collaborate with the engineering team for facility infrastructure requirements and oversee procurement and installation.
- Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with construction laws, building and safety codes, and other regulations.
- Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at the construction site to ensure that proper construction procedures are being followed.
- Coordinate routing and optimization of utilities within the facility with the Owner’s Architect/Engineer (OA/E) and Design Architect/Engineer.
- Assist with equipment and facility layout with consideration for system optimization, operational requirements, and maintainability.
- Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of all facility infrastructure systems.
- Coordinate project closeout by working with contractors to provide all warranties, training, operations and maintenance manuals, and as-builts.
- Support development of standard operating procedures for facility and system operations and maintenance.
- Assist with coordinating move-in and activation of the facility.
Minimum Requirements:
- BS. degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ professional experience with construction management.
- Able to read construction plans and specifications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Significant project management experience.
- Excellent leadership skills in leading, directing, and motivating teams.
- Safety mindset.
Preferred Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction, maintenance, and repair of radiation facilities.
- Completion of OSHA training/certification.
- Project Management Professional ( PMP) certification.
- Proficiency with Solidworks, EPDM, engineering simulation tools, Microsoft Excel, construction management software, and task management software.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting major systems.
- General engineering knowledge to communicate with multidisciplinary crafts.
Physical Requirements:
- Work to be conducted in an office environment and/or construction site; work at the construction site includes potential exposure to inclement weather and/or very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures. Also includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
- Consistent and appropriate use of personal protection equipment as required.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
- Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
- Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls according to a set procedure.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
