Role: CMDB ServiceNow Admin
Location: Remote/Canada
Duration: 12+ Months
Discovery Admin Role
Roles and Responsibilities:
Strong ServiceNow discovery experience plus certification
CMDB and Discovery
Create/Monitor operation of mid servers Ensure they are updated Ensure they are up and running.
Create New Mid Servers when and where needed Clustering/Separating Mid Servers for optimal performance.
Manage subnets/VLans Create/Monitor Discovery schedules Maintain Discovery schedule date and times they run.
Identify gaps in Discovery results (compare results to inventories).
Ensure Discovery efficiency Investigate new patterns that can be used to discover additional configuration items.
Review Discovery run times by splitting Discoveries up into smaller increments and merging Discoveries into larger groups.
Troubleshooting Discovery errors Systems not discovered.
Experience in creating, updating and maintaining CMDBs, Asset Management Databases and other asset/configuration management repositories in a complex IT environment.
Experience in identifying and tracking CIs, implementing change control and accounting for discovered/manual CIs in a complex IT system.
Managing CMDB health to support Assets and Configuration and CI relationships, as coming from discovered sources, manual sources from like relationship data from network team.
Reconcile solution of the CMDB data when exceptions are noted between CMDB, discovery information, and other authoritative production data repositories.
Can accurately define a client issue and can interpret and design a resolution based on deep product knowledge.
Experience and understanding of IP Networking, Devices, Network Design Methodology, and configuration.
Review the data being populated into the CMDB and act as partial owner of the CMDB ServiceNow.
Certified System Administration ITIL Certified.
ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist Discovery Qualifications required: Minimum of 3 years' experience with Configuration Management.
Minimum of 3+year experience with ServiceNow Discovery.
Minimum of 7+ years working on a team as part of a large IT organization.
Have strong functional knowledge and technical skills.
Experience with WMI, SSH, SNMP, PowerShell, REST, SOAP, and JavaScript.
Experience integrating with tools to federate data into the CMDB.
Expert in IT Asset Management Lifecycle processes (including hardware and software).
Good interpersonal skills, including collaboration, communication, relationship building, and negotiation.
Expert in IT Asset Management process & operational delivery Familiarity with network concepts (routers, switches, firewalls, NAT, load balancing) and storage.
Familiarity with the following concepts: XML, JSON/script language, database.
Ability to discuss credentials, install a product, troubleshoot permission issues, discuss and trouble shoot network connectivity with network engineers.
Preferred: Scripting capabilities such as JavaScript, jelly, SQL Acquaintance with Web and Application Servers, Load Balancers, Databases, Cloud (AWS, Azure etc.) and Virtualization (WebSphere, MQ, IIS, Apache, VMware).
