Numerical Simulations for Cosmology

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

Location

Pasadena, CA | United States

Job description

Description

Numerical simulations have become increasingly sophisticated over the last several decades and their role in cosmological surveys has correspondingly experienced enormous growth. In addition to their essential role in scientific research, numerical simulations are now integral to mission forecasting and survey formulation, and to the eventual analysis of observational data. We have several opportunities available for projects related to the development and exploitation of cosmological numerical simulations and mock galaxy catalogs for weak lensing and galaxy clustering. These efforts will feed directly into the preparation and analysis of ambitious cosmological surveys planned for the 2020's, including NASA's Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST), the ESA/NASA Euclid mission, and the ground-based Large Synoptic Survey Telescope.
