Schedule : Hybrid (3 days per week onsite)
Location : Aurora, CO
Salary : $80k - $115k (depending on education and experience)
The BI Supervisor is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Business Intelligence group to deliver business insights and useful information to decision makers. To accomplish this role is expected to establish meaningful relationships across the business with key decision makers; develop a deep understanding of our business operations, organization, and marketplace. This supervisor will also ensure critical policies and procedures are established, understood, and followed; prioritize and monitor progress of work assignments within the BI group; adopt best practices to ensure the highest, most effective use of IT resources; assist in development and success of BI staff through ensuring adequate cross-training of key functions, adequate training and learning among staff.
Essential Functions:
- Promote a vision for the role and value of BI tools within the organization
- Promote use of BI tools by coordinating necessary training and overviews for various areas of the business
- Work across the organization to identify and prioritize BI needs and requests
- Proactively seek areas where the application of BI tools can add value to processes and deliver business insights
- Drafts staff reviews annually for submission to IT Development Manager for review and approval
- Approves requests for time off (PTO/SLV)
- Report out IT Development/Deployment BI performance metrics as needed
- Recommend/maintain roadmap of future BI development needs
- Oversee the adequate documentation of key aspects of the reporting environment
- Define and administer security protocols, policies and procedures relating to the reporting tools
- From time-to-time, evaluate BI platform to validate cost/benefit, ROI of present platform
- Ability to supplement BI Developer activities when needed
- Collaborate with Business Analysts on forms, policies, procedures needed to ensure adequate project definitions, expectations, and requirements are gathered accurately and efficiently
- Define, implement and monitor SLA agreement and Strategy for BI Group activities
- Ensure proactive communications from BI Department to internal stakeholders
- Participate in various meetings, as needed
- Prepare and conduct BI updates, as needed
- Ensure adequate and positive communications between staff and internal business partners
- Participate with staff/internal business partners to ensure adequate project definitions/expectations
- Direct Reports: BI Developers and Data related Data Base Administrator (DBA), analysts
Reporting Tools:
- Proficiency in BI tools and technologies (e.g., Cognos, Targit, SSRS).
- Experience in reporting system implementation preferred.
- Familiarity with relevant programming languages beyond SQL (Python, R).
Data Warehouse / Data Engineering:
- Strong expertise in data warehousing principles and best practices.
- Strong SQL skills including complex queries and data structures.
- Ability to translate business requirements into data solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration.
- Experience in optimizing data pipelines and ensuring data quality.
Data Science:
- Familiarity with data science concepts and methodologies.
- Basic understanding of machine learning models and algorithms.
- Awareness of best practices in model training and evaluation.
- Ability to guide the team in exploring potential applications of predictive analytics.
Project Management:
- Experience in project planning, execution, and delivery.
- Ability to manage resources effectively and ensure project milestones are met.
- Knowledge of Agile or other project management methodologies.
- Ability to assist in training SME's throughout organization for self-service - Effective communication with non-technical stakeholders.
Supervisory:
- Assign IT Support help desk tickets to staff and monitor progress toward timely, accurate completion
- Evaluate tickets and other work requests presented to BI group for solving to determine most appropriate platform and/or workgroup is assigned to the effort
- Establish and enforce sound quality control standards and validation procedures over work product
- Conduct periodic staff meetings to communicate strategic and other company matters
- Foster a collaborative environment among staff and other IT groups in approaching problem solving for projects
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in IT or MIS or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of Supervisory/Management experience
- Judgement skills, planning and project management
- Sound familiarity with reporting tools and multidimensional reporting
- Understanding of business concepts and operational metrics
- Understanding of database design and data integrity concepts
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Python experience
- Advanced SQL experience
