Position Summary:

The Associate Director of External Affairs and Strategic Initiatives (EASI) for the School of Social Work will create, promote and oversee educational and outreach activities designed to build faculty, staff, student, and alumni learning resources and collaborative social impact opportunities in the community for the School of Social Work.

This position will develop and operate an effective continuing education program that meets the needs of professionals in social work within the surrounding areas. The EASI Director will attend one or more continuing education conferences per year to build upon the development of this vitally needed program with the goal of making it more financially viable and self-sustaining.

This position will manage the reposting of the annual strategic plan data to the University in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs.The EASI Associate Director will serve as the chair of the Inclusive Excellence Committee within the School of Social Work and liaise with UGA Office of Institutional Diversity. Annual reporting of the Inclusive Excellence Strategic Plan will be led by the EASI Associate Director while managing the regular committee meetings and connect these principles to all matters associated with external relations and strategic activities assigned by the Dean.

This position will oversee and manage the Board of Advisors, consisting of community leaders, friends of the school, faculty emeritus and others invited to the Board by the Dean. This will include one board meeting in the fall and spring semesters as well as a combined Board of Advisors and Alumni Board meeting each fall and spring semester (the Alumni Board is led by the Development Coordinator for the School of Social Work). The EASI Associate Director will work closely with the development coordinator to foster interactions and relationships between these two vital groups.The EASI Associate Director will report directly to the Director of Curriculum Innovation and support the two-year pilot program to develop and implement the SSW Practice and Research Clinic (PARC).The position will support PARC strategically and collaboratively to foster relationships with external constituents to build upon the scope and outward reach of the School within the university, local and state communities. This person will also survey faculty interests in being involved in PARC and attend meetings and/or trainings as assigned to enrich the knowledge base through community engagement and participation and build supporters of the school relationships. This position periodically conducts outreach, making face-to-face visits with community partners and supporters and collaborators of the School as deemed appropriate by the Director of Curriculum Innovation and the Dean.The position will lead the External Affairs Team, made up of the Associate Director of External Affairs and Strategic Initiatives, the Development Coordinator, the Associate Director of Finance and the IT and Communications Manager. This team’s purpose is to advance the goals, objectives and priorities of the school as per the Dean. This includes pre-planning and coordination of special events (such as fall and spring SSW convocation ceremonies, coordination of the annual Freedom Breakfast, the spring awards luncheon, Parham Policy Day, Holland Lectures, Hollowell Lectures, and the annual SSW holiday party), dissemination of news stories and magazines, establishment of relationships with external constituents and community partners and to lead the members of the School of Social Work. The EASI Associate Director will work with the Dean to communicate with external stakeholders (such as drafting and sending annual messages to stakeholders, personalized thank you notes, and holiday cards), NADD outreach, and corresponding with UGA offices on strategic initiatives. Duties/Responsibilities:

Continuing Education and Certificates · Creates an effective continuing education/certificate program that meets the needs of working professionals in the social work field.· Coordinate revenue-generating, financially viable continuing education/certificate courses. This will involve working with current faculty, adjunct instructors, alumni and other relevant practitioners to develop programs for a diverse array of continuing education/certificate courses around the state.· Oversee continuing education/certificate course applications/distribution.· Oversee establishment of webinar continuing education/certificate offerings.· Execute the planning and marketing of continuing education/certificate events; select venue and execute all details related to logistics.· Handle all social media to promote continuing education/certificate events.· Attend one or more continuing education conference per year that builds upon the foundation of executing a solid continuing education program.

Duties/Responsibilities:

External Relations · Build community relationships and investments in the school (15%)· Work closely with the Director of Curriculum Innovation to develop and launch the creation of the SSW Practice and Research Clinic (PARC) two-year pilot program to get the clinic stable and running.· Make contact and face-to-face visits with external constituents on a monthly basis to further the outward reach and scope of the school to enrich the missions of both the school and the external constituents.· Refer any potential major development prospects that might arise from these external relationships to the development coordinator, complete with briefing details to the Dean.· Work closely with the Dean to connect and build community with external partners.· Attend meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences, programs, etc. on building community, external relationships and continuing education programs.· Work with faculty to coordinate visits of scholars, speakers, and other dignitaries to the School.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage the External Affairs Team and Events · Serve as lead for the School’s External Affairs Team in planning all events for the School: graduation, lectures, awards luncheon, retirements, holiday events, etc. The External Affairs Team consists of the Director of External Affairs and Strategic Initiatives, the Development Coordinator, the Associate Director of Finance and the IT and Communications Manager.· Attend regular monthly meetings with the Dean and the External Affairs Team to forward the mission of the School.· Take the lead on planning the holiday party, SSW holiday cards, NADD outreach, UGA unit connection, Freedom Breakfast, Center/Lecture events, convocation, the awards luncheon and other special events as designated by the Dean.

Manage the School’s Board of Advisors · Develop programming and build agendas for two meetings of the Board annually as well as develop a working relationship with the Board of Advisors and the Alumni Advisory Board, including working with the development coordinator and other SSW staff to coordinate meetings and events, post-meeting follow-ups, and other related duties related to the Boards.
