Job description
We are seeking a PMP certified project manager with experience overseeing and executing numerous engineering programs in support of our DoD and Intel customers. The Project Manager candidate will manage multiple, ongoing, interrelated projects to achieve a specific set of client business goals. Organize and manage resources, and plans all work required to complete a discrete project within defined scope, quality, time and cost parameters. The Project Manager candidate will manage projects through the integrated project management life cycle - planning, execution, monitoring & control, and closeout activities.Project Managers play a pivotal role in planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling the life cycle of our projects. They interface and collaborate with our customers, contracts, finance, technical teams, and work across our organization to enable high levels of performance.
GENERAL DUTIES:
Project Managers have the responsibility for directly managing project scope, schedule, budget, and resources in pursuit of achieving successful delivery and customer satisfaction. This position requires strong organization skills and soft skills in communication, collaboration, delegation, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability.Active Leadership and Management of Project Scope, Cost, Schedule, and Performance
- Proactively manage the requirements and scope of the contract
- Clear understanding of contract deliverables and contract clauses
- Develop detailed project management plans for how we are going to execute
- Prioritization of project activities and tasks
- Develop and monitor schedules – planned verses actuals
- Monitor cost variance – forecast verses actuals
- Manage, control, and communicate risks throughout the project life cycle
Proactive Staffing and Resourcing of Project
- Ensure staff meet necessary qualifications of the contract
- Ensure distribution of senior, mid, and junior staff across the project team
- Staffing of critical agile roles like product owner, scrum master and senior software engineer
- Active management of planned verse actual resource utilization
- Ensure adequate hardware, software, and data resources (i.e., equipment, materials)
- Management of subcontractors
Active Stakeholder Engagement and Communications
- Daily/Weekly engagement and communications with project teams
- Weekly engagement and communications with prime partners
- Subcontractor management and communications
- Monthly technical and financial reporting
- Ensure use of agile practices like sprint retrospectives
- Interim Project Reviews (IPR) with customer and stakeholders
Ensure Quality Performance and Deliverables
- Develop clear expectations for quality, accuracy, and timeliness of work expected
- Institute technical and management review processes
- Institute defect management process
- Ensure project process improvement activities
- Perform causal analysis when needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- PMP Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT-related discipline
- 8+ years of project management experience managing complex, agile software development and integration projects
- Proven experience managing programs within schedule, scope and cost in the IC and DoD
- Experience developing and maintaining an integrated master schedule
- Experience performing cost and schedule performance analysis, risk management and dependency impact analysis
- Experience growing and expanding programs
- Must be organized, flexible and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be a self-starter able to work with limited guidance
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Scrum Master or SAFe certification
- Experienced with Microsoft Project, JIRA and Visio
- Experienced with managing cleared and remote teams
