The Executive Director of Foundation Information Services is a systems-oriented and data-driven leader with well-honed fundraising operations skills, including the ability to critically evaluate and improve fundraising efforts. This position leads all reporting and analytics, gift processing and data entry, and other technology-related services for the Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation. Reporting to the vice president of philanthropy operations, this position is responsible for optimizing, aligning, and managing mission critical best practices in philanthropy technology, data management, and analytic services. The Executive Director oversees the data entry, and reporting & analytics teams. The Executive Director works to ensure industry best practices are followed and that the integrity of the HMH Foundation is maintained at the highest possible levels. The Executive Director works with all teams across the Foundation but will closely interact with the executive directors of finance/accounting, and prospect development & research to ensure data is consistent and accurate.
A day in the life of a Executive Director of Foundation Information Services at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Direct a comprehensive array of database, data, analytic, and technology services in support of the Foundation's fundraising efforts including the management of all campaign analysis and reporting.
- Provide strategic oversight of fundraising activity and performance across the organization by working with Foundation leadership and the development team to expand and enhance the analytical reporting systems used to track progress against individual, team, and campaign fundraising goals.
- Oversee the reporting and analytics team in the development of standard and ad hoc reports and dashboards used to measure, track and analyze fundraising and prospect activity. Analyze existing processes and streamline the report development throughput by improving data management and advancing core report/dashboard techniques.
- Provide management, mentorship, guidance, and professional development to both direct and indirect reports. Lead team meetings to facilitate coordination of development activity across the organization and sharing of best practices while maintaining a consistent focus on goals.
- Manage the centralized data entry and gift processing team and implement practices to accurately and comprehensively track and document all donor information and activity ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient gift processing, effective data management, and a high level of data integrity.
- Manage the HMH Foundation¿s computer hardware and software systems. Administer the fundraising database and oversee all process development, data management, data integrity, data imports, code tables and security. Take initiative to drive improvement to existing systems and lead upgrade efforts. Work with HMH IT and external vendor teams to ensure data and system security.
- Develop and execute training plans for fundraisers and support staff on the use of the database and systems. Serve as a champion and resource for the technology and processes, driving fundraisers and support staff to continually utilize and maximize the resources in consistent ways.
- Develop and document Foundation policies and procedures related to information services.
- Manage relationships with external vendors related to information services.
- Remain current with existing and emerging strategies and tactics, applying them as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in information services, including managing a complex database.
- Understanding of fundraising operations and best-practices for donor and prospect management as well as campaign operations.
- Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising database software.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in analyzing and synthesizing data sets and producing highly readable, informative reports and presentations relevant to philanthropy.
- Strong managerial, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interface effectively with a variety of people including leaders, donors, board members, physicians, colleagues, and vendor partners to establish productive, ongoing relationships.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred :
- Master's level degree or specialized certification in a related field.
- Experience with data analytical reporting tools such as (but not limited to) Oracle Analytics Servicer, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Crystal Reports.
- Experience in a healthcare setting at a large multi-hospital system.
- Familiarity with metrics, prospect management and philanthropy activities and processes.
