Quality Control Inspector - Partial Relocation
Our Award Winning Client, a nationally recognized leader in structural steel fabrication and erection, is seeking a qualified Quality Control Inspector to join their team. As an industry leader, our client has garnered numerous awards for excellence in their field.
Must-Haves:
- AWS CWI with 3 years of experience.
- Proficiency in interpreting shop fabrication drawings for steel bridge fabrication.
- Familiarity with codes and code requirements for:
- Highway bridges
- Railroad bridges
- State DOT's
- Welding & Bolting
- Cleaning & Painting
- Ability to receive and maintain Quality Control Inspection records.
- Capability to examine raw materials and compare them to ASTM codes.
Job Description:
The Quality Control Inspector, reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, is responsible for inspecting raw materials, in-process work, and finished products to ensure compliance with shop drawings, specifications, and codes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Interpret shop fabrication drawings for steel bridge fabrication.
- Understand and adhere to specifications and codes, including those for highway bridges, railroad bridges, state DOT's, welding & bolting, and cleaning & painting.
- Receive and maintain Quality Control Inspection records.
- Examine raw materials against ASTM codes.
- Verify dimensions of products or materials to match shop drawings.
- Conduct visual inspections of welds for code conformance.
- Complete NDE training, testing, and certification (company-paid training/certification).
- Maintain CWI certification (company-paid training/recertification).
- Generate required quality control inspection reports.
- Perform tasks necessary to maintain QA departmental functions daily.
- Serve as a liaison to outside inspectors.
- Review and approve NDE/testing P.O. for the department, as well as PRS and VBB.
Education and/or Experience:
- AWS CWI with 3 years of experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting shop fabrication drawings.
- Familiarity with American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 and D1.5 Code Criteria.
- Effective communication with shop supervision, management, and welding personnel.
- Ability to perform and document inspection activities during fabrication and welding of structural piece members.
