Days and Hours: AY:M-F 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; SMR:M-R 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Job Description:
POSITION GOALS :
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE :
· Ability to work directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socio economic backgrounds.
· Prepare all solutions and have ready all materials and equipment needed for laboratory and greenhouse sessions.
· Provide technical assistance during clinical, biological laboratory and greenhouse sessions.
· Maintain a current inventory of all instruments, equipment, materials, and chemicals in labs, stockrooms, lab stations, and greenhouse.
· Supervise the distribution and return of instruments, equipment, and materials, within the clinical and assigned biological science section, the greenhouse and borrowed by and from the various sections of the College.
· Prepare purchase order requisitions and purchase supplies.
· Prepare budget transfers in coordination with the department budget director.
· Make minor repairs on equipment and arrange for major repairs when necessary.
· Support professional teaching through the preparation of laboratory and greenhouse sessions.
· Schedule equipment repairs, maintenance and calibration as necessary.
· Maintain safe laboratory and storage facilities.
· Aid in setting up equipment for classroom demonstrations.
· Maintain a file of literature and instructional manuals on the equipment assigned to the department.
· Maintain a catalog file to facilitate identification and purchasing of new equipment.
· Keep labs and greenhouse in clean, safe working order. Responsible for clean-up and storage of solutions and materials after laboratory and greenhouse sessions.
· Prepare a list of supply items to be put on bid and/or included in annual budgets.
· Conduct bid analysis.
· Receive and maintain files on all purchases.
· Attend all federally or NJ State mandated training to include, but not limited to, Right-To-Know and Blood Borne Pathogens.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Associate degree in laboratory-based science.
· Two years related experience in biology, microbiology or greenhouse technology preferred.
· Demonstrated ability and willingness to accept responsibility for the well-being and proper condition of the clinical and biological science laboratories and greenhouse.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently.
· Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft office programs such as MS word and Excel.
