Employee Benefits at the City of La Marque:

• Medical Insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield): The City covers the full premium for the employee. Dependent coverage is available, and the cost is covered by the employee.
• Dental (Blue Cross Blue Shield): Dental coverage is provided as part of the benefits package.
• Vision (EyeMed): Vision coverage is available for employees and dependents at a very low premium.
• Life Insurance (MetLife): Employees receive $50,000 in Basic Life Insurance coverage.
• Insurance Effective Date: All insurance plans become effective for new hires 30 days after their hire date and on the first day of the next month.
• TMRS (Texas Municipal Retirement System): Each employee contributes 7% of their salary per pay period into the TMRS retirement system. Once vested (after 5 years of service), the City matches contributions 2-1 by the time of retirement.

• ICMA (457 Plan): Similar to a 401K, the ICMA is a supplemental retirement plan with tax advantages. This plan provides additional options for retirement savings and investment, offered alongside the TMRS plan.
• Deer Oaks Employee Assistance Program: A free, confidential benefit providing short-term counseling, resources, and referrals for employees and their dependents.
• Premier Pension Solutions (Section 125 Cafeteria Plan): This plan includes a Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and/or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). Employees can utilize these accounts for various out-of-pocket health care expenses qualifying as federal income tax deductions under Section 213(d) of the Internal Revenue Code.
