Job Description
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Social Services provides professional social work services to individuals, families, and groups within a variety of settings, including healthcare facilities, community organizations, and social service agencies. This role involves assessing clients' needs, providing therapeutic interventions, and advocating for clients' rights and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts comprehensive psychosocial assessments of clients to identify strengths, needs, and treatment goals.
- Develops individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, setting measurable objectives and interventions to address identified issues.
- Provides individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and solution-focused therapy.
- Offers crisis intervention services to clients experiencing acute emotional or psychological distress, including risk assessment and safety planning.
- Advocates for clients' rights and access to resources, coordinating with external agencies and community resources to address clients' needs.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, psychologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure holistic and coordinated care for clients.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Provides education and support to clients and their families regarding mental health issues, coping strategies, and available support services.
- Participates in regular supervision, case consultations, and continuing education activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
- Adheres to professional ethical standards and guidelines, including maintaining client confidentiality and respecting cultural diversity and individual differences.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of practice.
- Minimum of two years of post-licensure experience providing clinical social work services, preferably in a healthcare or mental health setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic interventions and counseling techniques, with proficiency in conducting psychosocial assessments and developing treatment plans.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Understanding of ethical principles and legal regulations governing the practice of social work, including mandatory reporting requirements and confidentiality laws.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse populations, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from various backgrounds and identities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other documentation systems used in social service settings.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards of practice in social work.
