Job Description: PT Staff Associate, ESL, Academic Affairs Non-Unit Professional position, up to 20 hours/week Campus Location: Lynn and Danvers Campuses GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Staff Associate is responsible for providing tactical support to the ESL department. The Staff Associate will perform duties requiring a high degree of confidentiality, decision-making ability and exceptional responsiveness to internal and external requests. They will support the Director of ESL with evaluations, calendars, and communication efforts. The candidate will play a critical role in supporting the academic programs on the Lynn, Danvers, and online campuses. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in a technology-rich environment and have a passion for working with data.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Improve processes within the ESL department to optimize productivity and efficiencies, which will include (but not be limited to): proactively streamlining workload and workflow for the Director,
- Work strategically and collaboratively with the ESL Achievement Coach(s) and ESL Lab Coordinators.
- Assist with developing and managing ESL events (e.g., orientations and workshops) for the ESL program, including the management of changes made during the registration periods and actively engage with innovative software and management systems to streamline scheduling;
- Assist with non-credit ESL faculty evaluations processes, sending evaluations to faculty, maintaining lists of On-Cycle faculty;
- Assist the Director of ESL with strategic decision making with respect to student support and outreach;
- Coordinate and help oversee external partnerships related to Dual Language and ESL;
- Liaise with internal departments, faculty, external companies, and accreditations;
- Receive telephone calls, greets visitors, provides information and/or refers inquiries to appropriate person/office;
- Perform assignments as required by the office and handle confidential information for the Director of ESL
- Manage the departmental calendar;
- Maintain/update the ESL web pages and;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of ESL Navigation
Requirements: - Associates Degree
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of office management, general report writing and data preparation and analysis .
- Ability to use general office equipment and higher education platforms such as Banner, Navigate, Blackboard, Excel, Google suite, etc.
- Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of data, to draw conclusions and to make appropriate recommendations
- Ability to establish rapport and maintain harmonious working relationships with persons from varied ethnic, cultural and/or economic backgrounds.
- Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
- Candidate will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Fluency in Spanish, Arabic, and/or French (preferred)
Additional Information: SALARY RANGE: $26-$30/hour
