Job description
We are seeking an Application Analyst for the Epic Beacon Oncology team. This role’s primary responsibility will be oncology protocol build (Adult, Pediatric, and Research), testing, and validation in Epic and mapping to Clinical Pathways. This position has responsibility within all phases of the software development lifecycle including design, build, testing, installation, and maintenance of the application. This position will also share after-hours and weekend on-call responsibilities with other members of the Beacon team, to include downtime testing during system patches and upgrades.
*While this team works remotely some of the time, you must be prepared to work on premise as required. Montefiore requires employees to reside in the U.S. states of NY, NJ, CT, or PA. Montefiore does not provide relocation / does not pay for relocation. Montefiore requires immunizations including for COVID-19 and flu.
Responsibilities Include:
- Install new applications, new components, and upgrade existing applications. Configure application settings.
- Build and maintain standard of care and research oncology treatment plans for both adults and pediatrics. Build and maintain therapy and supportive care plans. This includes medication configuration when needed.
- Work with oncology subject matter experts (clinicians and pharmacists) to review and to validate treatment, therapy, and supportive care plans.
- Provide go-live and rollout support. Support users on new applications, modules, and functionality.
- Determine how a new system, upgrade, or new component can best meet the needs of the users.
- Analyze business/clinical needs and requirements.
- Interpret end user requirements, by fully discussing potential options, and help client move towards optimal solution.
- Utilize extensive knowledge of the system to reveal potential issues related to user requests.
- Evaluate the operational workflow that is applied to the system.
- Create system specifications from user requirements.
- Create test plans and test new systems, version upgrades, and any system modifications. Document all outcomes of testing.
- Design database queries and create reports utilizing a report-writing tool.
- Monitor application issues and evaluate issues as they arise.
- Write and maintain accurate and current documentation regarding application(s) supported by the team. Participate in the maintenance of training materials and disseminate materials to users.
- Provide timely, effective, and professional customer support on a 24x7 rotating basis. Work with the help desk and support personnel on escalated issues to identify problems and resolve them. Triage network, hardware, or workstation issues as required.
- Analyze necessary Beacon modifications and work with the appropriate Montefiore IT associate or the vendor to coordinate the modification.
- Act as a liaison to the vendor for Montefiore IT or the client.
- Manage vendor communications needed for support, issue resolution and escalation.
- Coordinate vendor activities including hardware or software installation.
- Performs other related duties within the Beacon team and MIT as required.
Required:
- Epic Beacon or Willow certification. (S trong consideration will be given to candidates that are not currently certified but can demonstrate ability to become certified)
- Must have clinical license (Pharmacist, RN, PA, or NP)
- Minimum of 3 years working in a related clinical, healthcare, or technical position
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong desktop skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Visio, Teams)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- On-call responsibilities
Preferred:
- Epic Willow certification (with medication build experience)
- Pharmacy oncology background is strongly preferred
- Clinical experience in an oncology setting
- Knowledge of oncology workflows
- Full lifecycle Epic implementation with go-live experience
- Pediatric/Research protocol build experience
- Knowledge of inpatient and ambulatory workflows
- Application implementation, troubleshooting, testing, and support experience
- Experience supporting end-users
- Experience working with vendors
- Programming or other technical skills
