Job description
Corning Research & Development Corporation seeks Sr Development Engineer to work in Painted Post, NY. Duties: R&D for early to mid-stage optical communications products/processes; project leadership & project team participation; design & develop new process methods & tech. for fiber optic systems; analysis of mechanical process data using statistical tools; interpretation of data to make recommendations on immediate actions & long-term corrective actions; design work for experimental plans, measurement methods & mechanical setup s; carry out experimental plans by setting up equipment (i.e. measurement systems & mechanical apparatus) & performing experimental work including setup & execution; documenting & presenting experimental results. Up to 25% travel (U.S., Poland, Mexico, Germany). Requires: Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or closely related & 3 yrs exp. in a development or experimental laboratory environment working w/ electrical/mechanical assembly & testing. 2 yrs exp. w/: optical communications industry including experience w/ optical fiber & optical connectivity; design products or manufacturing processes using CAD; use of MEE, DOE, SPC or other process control/analysis techniques to recommend decisions based on thorough data analysis; optical metrology equipment including light sources, power meters, scientific cameras, & microscopy tools; factory automation of assembly processes.
