About the Position:

The Division of Administration and Finance serves as the backbone of the California State University, Fullerton campus, managing a wide array of operations from maintaining and enhancing university buildings and grounds to providing important business support services. Campus beautification, classroom improvements, and technological advancements, continue to be a priority as we enhance the learning environment and facilities. It is the mission of the Division to provide customer-focused administrative support and steward our physical and financial resources in order to fulfill the university's mission and support student success. Partnership with our diverse campus community and its many stakeholders are important in helping our operations provide excellent customer service and results. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Accounting Clerk. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Reporting to the Director of Accounting Services and Financial Reporting (ASFR), the Accounting Clerk performs routine clerical duties of limited scope in support of Accounting Services and Financial Reporting. Follows specific instructions and well-defined procedures. Performs routine and repetitive financial or cash-related clerical duties. Reviews repetitive financial documents for accuracy and completeness. Responds to routine accounting inquiries and refers them to the appropriate staff member when more extensive interpretation is required. Use of standard office equipment such as copier, fax machine and printer. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
High school education and one year of general office experience. Working knowledge of mathematical and general office methods, practices, and procedures. Ability to learn basic financial record-keeping methods, procedures, and practices; make mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy; maintain files and records; follow oral and written directions; communicate effectively with others; read, understand, and apply rules and regulations; and use current computer word processing and spreadsheet software programs, web browsers, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems, such as student accounting, cashiering and student financial aid to complete tasks. Read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and/or experience using CMS/PeopleSoft Finance. Thorough knowledge and/or experience using Microsoft Excel. Previous accounting support experience in an academic environment at a university level. Previous experience working in an Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable department.
