Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Schedule: Full-time Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 7:00 pm with rotating Saturdays
Starting Pay Rate: $19.00 - $25.57 depending on experience

General Description:
Provides courteous services as part of the Pharmacy team to Midtown patients. Assists the pharmacist in prioritizing work, processing, and filling prescription orders in compliance with Federal and State laws and Midtown policies and procedures. Further assists the pharmacist in operational functions to include maintaining the clean and orderly appearance of the pharmacy area, inventory management, third party administration, coordination of workflow functions and legal compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Collects data from the patient as required by the pharmacy computer system and state regulations including current insurance and ability to pay status
- Correctly enters all new and refill prescription information into the pharmacy computer system including verification of medication cost and third party reimbursement
- Notifies pharmacist of any DUR's that are generated by pharmacy computer system
- Fills new and refill prescriptions in accordance with laws, regulation and agency policies
- Checks NDC number against the label, counts, pours, or measures the required quantities, add label for pharmacist to check
- Responsible for answering the phone and screening calls for pharmacist on duty, assist caller whenever possible
- Fills completed prescriptions in numerical order and by schedule as directed by the Pharmacy Practice Act
- Follows end of day process for cash register and deliver money to Business office for deposit
- Prepare and code itemized invoices form Wholesalers for delivery to the Business Office with invoices, copy Credit Invoices for pharmacy file and entering price changes into computer system
- Assists Pharmacist with checking for outdated medications monthly
- Ensures adequate forms for pharmacy purposes are available at all times
- Generally cleans the pharmacy on daily basis and assists with periodic dusting and vacuuming
- Collaborates with other members of the health care team on patient care standards and enhancement operations
- Participates in performance improvement and risk management activities
- Assists in the training of new pharmacy technicians
- Completes special projects as assigned by Pharmacy Director to enhance overall patient care
- Adheres to JCAHO pharmacy requirements
- Utilizes methods, techniques and approaches consistent with age group of patients
- Participates in continuing education as necessary for certification and licensure
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed as Pharmacy Technician by the Utah State of Occupational and Professional Licensing. Completion of a Utah Board-approved pharmacy technician-training program required. Sufficient experience to fulfill the duties of the position.
Other Skills:
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written in English and Spanish required. Demonstrates ability to relate well with others in a team based, works quickly and accurately under pressure and has capacity to learn computer skills.
