Job description
As a member of the Acquisition & Branch Development team, you will lead and participate in projects and trainings to further develop the operational excellence that we work to achieve for the company. The position is integral to helping to create a system where all the parts come together and work in a complementary fashion to achieve the company’s goals. We will achieve this by collaborating with the front facing operation, our branch teams, and all the functional support departments that support the branches.
Duties and responsibilities
What You Will Be Working On:
- Lead and guide Divisional, Regional & Branch productivity projects & initiatives.
- Assess, coach, and provide constructive feedback to teams to strengthen operational processes, system utilization and organizational development.
- Serve as a change facilitator, developing and collaborating with divisional leaders in regions and branches, and influencing organizational leadership in the transformation to and/or in support of a continuous improvement culture.
- Facilitate the Division’s strategy deployment process by managing the Division’s targets to improve, bowler charts, and the counter measure process.
- Ensure regional and departmental strategies are aligned to the Division’s overall strategies.
- Monitor existing and new business processes for improvement opportunities in Safety, Distribution Process Capacity/Lead Time, Inventory, and Cost through PMP problem solving methodology.
- Prepare budgets, schedules, and other financial reports particularly regarding the impact of productivity improvements, waste reduction, and ROI.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through world class operations benchmarking.
- Collaborate with all department heads including IT, Credit, Finance, Safety, Internal Audit, HR and Supply Chain to ensure the Continuous Improvement of, and adherence to Beacon’s Distribution System and Beacon Branch Fundamentals.
- Support all tasks related to an acquisition’s conversion process, pre-conversion inventories, and post conversion follow-up training.
- Assist Divisional leaders in identifying, screening, interviewing and hiring key Divisional resources.
- Assist in developing additional training platforms for various job descriptions as they pertain to branch operations.
- Communicate continuous improvement training, information and news to field personnel.
- Partner with Director, Acquisition & Branch Development and other Divisional leads in establishing and effectively implementing Beacon’s productivity processes.
- Other duties and special assignments may be assigned.
Qualifications
What You Will Need to Be Successful in This Role:
- Bachelor of Science in related business discipline.
- Extensive productivity experience with Six Sigma, Lean or some combination of Industry recognized Lean/Six Sigma training and/or experience desirable.
- 5-10 years of demonstrated qualified operational experience in a leadership role required.
- Solid knowledge and demonstrated understanding of TPS and methodologies such as: Strategy Deployment, Process Flow Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, 5s/Visual Management, Standard Work, Process Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis, Management, Project Management, Business Process Capacity planning/development, and Lean ROI is a plus.
- Gemba based Continuous Improvement tools/techniques a plus.
- Proficient with Computer applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio, MS Project, and statistical tools such as Minitab or SPC for Excel).
- Superior and demonstrated leadership, team building, communication, presentation, interpersonal, and coaching skills and the ability to ensure accountability using sound Management Principles.
- Demonstrated capability to lead acquisition integrations.
- Project management experience with the ability to understand and drive cost savings.
- Strong influencing and coaching skills. Proven experience in developing and coaching a team.
- Ability to be effective in a highly matrixed environment, to effectively communicate with and influence all levels of the organization and drive change.
- Proven ability to think and act strategically, but also be willing to “roll up sleeves.”
- Willing to travel up to 75%.
Working conditions
There may be times when weekend or night work is required for successful completion of projects.
