Overview
A full-time Research Tech position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Yibin Kang at the Department of Molecular Biology. We use molecular biology approaches and mouse models of cancer to study cancer metastasis.
Managing the lab stock of research animal strains, assisting animal experiments as well as follow-up monitoring and record-keeping, and communicate with the PI, lab members and the Laboratory Animal Research office and staff for animal research related issues.The candidate is also expected to carry out certain lab duties, such as maintaining lab reagent stock, maintaining animal research and other experimental space, equipment and supplies. This position may require flexible hours as needed by the research projects.
Bachelor or Master degree in biological sciences or related disciplines and a minimum of 1-2 yearsâ™ experience in laboratory animal research environment, ideally in rodent models of cancer. Strong work ethic and integrity is required. Accurate and timely data/sample collection, record keeping, data processing and critical thinking skills are a must. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a working knowledge of computers and associated software used in research. Demonstrated ability to carry out high quality research experiments and to communicate effectively in English required. Must be responsible and reliable to work independently when necessary and maintain harmonious team relationships.
Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Highly motivated candidate with previous experience with mouse research and animal surgical techniques and familiarity with animal research rules and regulations is strongly preferred.
