Position Summary/Description:
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
Managed Desktop Services ( MDS ) provides professional, efficient, customer-centered IT services to campus units contracting with MDS for support. The MDS Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the MDS team, delivery of desktop support services to 14 campus units and for developing productive, collaborative partnerships with supported campus units, key vendors and other IT service providers. The Manager of MDS also provides leadership in defining and refining the services provided by the MDS team and in developing appropriate IT solutions and practices for the team and supported units. The Manager leads a team of 8 staff members across 2 teams within MDS , the Desktop Support Team ( DST ) and the Enterprise Delivery Team ( DST ). The DST provides IT support service directly to faculty and staff in supported units, remotely when possible and in person when necessary. The EDT provides workstation engineering, device management, software packaging and distribution, IT asset management and access management services for all MDS supported units, and in some instances for use by other IT support units on campus. The MDS Manager is responsible for: * Fostering the professional development of staff to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing environmentEducation and Experience:
* Experience at a college or university
* Knowledge of ITSM and ITIL best practices
* Experience managing receipts supported and revenue generating service
* Experience leading teams to support Microsoft365
* Experience managing or leading teams to manage a large, diverse collection of devices
* Experience implementing or leading teams to implement end point security strategy and practices
* Extensive experience with technology planning and solution development
