Summary:

Essential Functions
- Maintains Equipment Safety: Maintains anesthesia equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendation. Performs daily maintenance on anesthesia equipment. Maintains quality control checks on anesthesia machines prior to first case, including available instruments and disposables needed. Maintains a continuing preventive maintenance program for anesthesia and operating room equipment. Assists anesthesiologist before, during and after the case as needed. Provides safe, therapeutic care considering the Age, growth and development and specific needs of the patient population
- Data Maintenance: Maintains service records on all anesthesia and operating room equipment as required. Coordinates with the Biomedical Engineering Department to manage and maintain anesthesia equipment.
- Comfort and Safety: Assists with setting up invasive lines. Assist Anesthesiologist and RN staff with Pain Clinic. Obtains and sets up necessary supplies and equipment for regional anesthesia.
- Fiscal Responsibility: Works in conjunction with the Anesthesia group, the Nurse Manager and/or the OR Business Analyst to identify cost saving or cost avoidance opportunities. Coordinates educational opportunities for the OR staff and Anesthesia regarding product changes to ensure acceptance. Works with Vendor Representatives to explore opportunities available to enable to provision of safe, effective, cost conserving equipment and products
- Room Turnover: Works in conjunction with the OR staff and Anesthesia Department to ensure timely patient through-put. Assists with room turnover as requested or required .Assist with various tasks delegated by OR team leader and/or Manager
- Miscellaneous: Protects patient rights of confidentiality and privacy at all times. Demonstrates knowledge of role in emergency situations. Attends mandatory meetings, in-services, and continuing education and participates in committees as opportunities occur. Promotes unity, collegiality, and change in the nursing unit by promoting supportive behavior and displaying a positive attitude. Promotes and follows the written hospital policies and procedures and standards. Participates in performance improvement projects of nursing unit as assigned by the Nurse Manager. Maintains the nursing station and unit in a neat, organized manner. Maintains understanding of changes within the hospital and the nursing unit by reading policies, procedures, memos, communication book and attending unit meetings.
