GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Sr. Technical Sales Representative is responsible for meeting assigned revenue, margin and product mix objectives, within the corporate business framework. Leverages in-depth industry and product knowledge to secure, develop, manage and enhance relationships with key architects, designers, general contractors, distributors, subcontractors, and end-users while independently analyzing, developing, executing and adjusting sales and marketing strategies to meet changing needs. Owns and manages all related performance and service metrics for the assigned accounts. Provides support to new sales hires and Sales Trainees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Achieves and exceeds assigned sales goals and expectations.
- Generates new business and ensures growth of existing accounts within regional sphere of influence.
- Utilizes customer relationships with key decision makers to address weaknesses, leverage strengths, and develop complex penetration strategies to improve business and increase revenue for assigned accounts.
- Leverages in-depth industry and product knowledge, marketplace dynamics and key relationships both internally and externally to improve business strategies, develop collateral, increase revenue, and identify and solve complex issues.
- Suggests improvements to the standard sales process while identifying and utilizing individual selling style to identify decision makers, gain customer commitment, predict sales probability, and effectively close deals.
- Communicates complex ideas simply and succinctly and exchanges information in a logical, respectful, and factual manner for both internal communications and to effectively present technical information to various group sizes.
- Delivers product knowledge training sessions with internal and external customers, as appropriate, utilizing supplier representatives.
- Pursues and adopts all available technology for productivity and effective lead generation, account maintenance, sales and expense tracking, forecasting, account reviews, customer contact, presentations, etc.
- Works collaboratively with internal support resources to develop teamwork through cooperation, trust and mutual respect.
- Provides leadership, guidance, and mentorship to new sales hires.
- Represents the company at CSI/CSC, ICRI, BOMA, and/or other approved professional organizations.
- Maintains extensive product knowledge in all product lines and service offerings; stays up to date on industry standards through continuous training, education and development courses.
- Adheres to, enforces, and helps answer questions regarding all company policies, pricing, and operational procedures with special attention to the professional image of the company.
- Performs other related duties as required, requested or assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's Degree in Business, Sales, Construction Management and 5 years of construction or industry experience OR
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED with 8 years of construction or industry experience
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, & QUALIFICATIONS: - Must have 5 years of hands-on, sales account management experience preferably in the construction industry or manufacturing related segments.
- Knowledge of the local marketplace dynamics and competitive products and landscape
- Intermediate knowledge of product chemistries
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
- Ability to travel extensively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to mentor and coach
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce.com
- Knowledge of SAP a plus
- Suitable home office workspace to conduct work
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, kneel, talk, hear, and lift up to 25 lbs.
BENEFITS & COMPENSATION: The salary range for applicants in this position generally starts at $99K and goes up based on experience. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
