Job description
Pilot Plant Technician needs Bachelors or Associates Degree in a lab science.
Pilot Plant Technician requires:
- Ability to understand experimental purpose and overall design of experiments.
- Be well-organized and thorough in documentation.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Ability to move raw material drums (up to 500lbs) with a drum dolly or drum lift.
- Previous mixing, batching, or compounding experience following written directions to make bulk product or finished goods with close attention to detail.
- Must have the ability to do algebraic math (add, subtract, divide, multiply, decimal system).
- Clear understanding of Metric and Imperial systems and conversions.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- History of safe and high-quality work with attention to detail.
Pilot Plant Technician duties:
- Confirm the identities, weights, and lot numbers of all raw materials in each batch.
- Perform inspections on all equipment: tanks, agitators, motors, pumps, fillers.
- Follow manufacturing instructions to make a batch, i.e. combining raw materials, heating, cooling, mixing, homogenizing, sampling.
- Record steps taken, including sequence, time, temperature, or any others specified per instructions.
- Perform finished product quality testing on finished bulk.
- Become trained and qualified on testing pH, viscosity, specific gravity, or others required.
- Perform daily pH and scale calibrations within the department. Implement experiments based on verbal instructions and batch card templates with minimal supervision.
- Maintain a clean and safe GMP environment.
- Cross train in other areas such as pre-weighing, assisting with transferring bulk material to totes, drums, or other containers; cleaning, sanitizing, and swabbing tanks and ancillary equipment.
- Daily laboratory housekeeping (glassware and other equipment washing/cleaning).
- Monitor and maintain chemical and laboratory supplies and inventory.
- Other duties as required.
