Job description
DESE Research, Inc. seeks multiple mid-level Software Engineers and Developers . The selected candidates will serve on our Software Development Team in support of Boeing's and the US Army's Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) Missile Seeker Program and other potential missile defense programs. Our team actively supports the Boeing development and integration engineering team providing real-time software engineering and development resources. The candidates will work 100% on-site in Huntsville, AL.
Job Details:
Develop, integrate, test, de-bug real-time operating systems (RTOS) (e.g., VXWorks) and Board Support Packages (BSPs) on mission hardware in a SecDevOps environment
Apply traditional software engineering and development methodologies in alignment with program requirements and objectives
Interface with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and solicit feedback
Participate in design reviews
Assist in the preparation of technical reports, briefings, and other documentation
Required Qualifications:
- 5-10 year's experience with real-time, embedded software engineering and development for complex mission systems in defense and aerospace applications
- Strong understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded systems - especially with the VxWorks RTOS and VxWorks BSPs
- Knowledge of software development methodologies like Waterfall, Agile, and Scrum
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python
- Experience with software engineering principles and architecture concepts
- Knowledge of data structures and algorithms
- Ability to optimize code for performance and resource constraints
- Experience with SecDevOps software development approaches for implementing security and resiliency
- Experience with debugging and troubleshooting real-time systems
- Experience with real-time software testing and validation
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders
- Must have and maintain a SECRET Collateral Clearance or higher
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Modular Open System Architecture (MOSA) concepts and design principles, and how to implement through software engineering and development
- Experience using DevOps tools such as GitLab
- Basic understanding of radio frequency processing systems / radar sensors
- Experience with application and integration of Cybersecurity and Zero-Trust architecture concepts and design principles and how to implement through software engineering and development
- Experience with real-time communication protocols like MQTT, DDS, or OPC UA
- Familiarity with hardware interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, etc.
- Understanding of concurrency, synchronization, and threading concepts
- Certifications in real-time systems or embedded software development can be advantageous, but not required
