General Requirements:

Earned Doctorate or Terminal degree. At least five years of experience in Graduate Medical Education (G.M.E.) leadership at the program director, osteopathic director of medical education, designated institutional official, or other G.M.E. leadership position for an American Osteopathic Association ( AOA ), Liaison Committee on Medical Education ( LCME ), or Accreditation Council Graduate Medical Education ( ACGME ) accredited institution or program. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Provides leadership in Graduate Medical Education (G.M.E.) for all affiliated residency programs and serves as the Designated Institutional Official for all G.M.E. programs for which the SHSU College of Osteopathic Medicine is the institutional sponsor. Serves as a member of the SHSU medical education consortium.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Works with leadership of the College of Osteopathic Medicine and its affiliated hospitals to provide for Graduate Medical Education (G.M.E.) development, ongoing support, faculty development, and other services as needed by partner institutions in their effort to develop and maintain G.M.E. in a variety of specialties. Assures compliance with accreditation groups, including the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education ( ACGME ) and the American Osteopathic Association ( AOA ). Provides for implementation and monitoring of affiliated hospital G.M.E. programs, assists with curriculum development, and assures quality resident education. Maintains relationships with program directors and Designated Institutional Officials in affiliated programs. Develops working knowledge of resident management, evaluation systems, and maintains the Resident Handbook. Prepares the annual G.M.E. Report for SHSU , the SHSU Medical Education Consortium, and hospital partners. Collaborates with leadership and faculty to assist with new programs. Performs other related duties as assigned.
