E & I Designer – Bolingbrook, IL
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a talented and experienced E & I Designer to join our Bolingbrook, IL office. As an E&I Designer, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of electrical and instrumentation systems for various projects within our client industries (utility, power, chemical, refining).
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints.
- Develop detailed electrical and instrumentation designs, including control panels, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, equipment layouts, cable schedules, and other related deliverables.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools to create accurate and high-quality design drawings and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, regulations, and client specifications throughout the design process.
- Perform calculations and analysis to determine optimal equipment sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop, and other technical parameters.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, vendor documentation, and technical specifications to support design activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, process, and civil engineers, to integrate electrical and instrumentation systems seamlessly into overall project designs.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project meetings to provide technical expertise and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
- Support construction and commissioning activities by providing technical assistance, resolving design-related issues, and ensuring adherence to design intent.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements and best practices in electrical and instrumentation design to enhance professional knowledge and apply them to project designs.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
- Proven experience as an E & I Designer in an engineering consulting or similar environment.
- Strong proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools. – AutoCAD is required.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical and instrumentation design principles, codes, standards, and practices relevant to the utility, power, chemical and refining.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex design challenges and propose effective solutions.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and designs to multidisciplinary teams and clients.
