Position Summary: The Medical Coding Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate coding of medical records for billing purposes, compliance with regulations and facilitating proper reimbursement for healthcare services and quality of patient care.

Key performance objectives in order of priority with ideal time allocation are:

Utilizes knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes to review medical records and properly assign relevant codes.

We are hiring a full-time coder; our employees have the ability to work in our home office or work from home. We also offer a hybrid working model!

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Certification in coding with 3-5 years of experience with outpatients and ER Coding preferred.
  3. In-depth knowledge of medical coding systems including ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS.
  4. Strong analytical skills to interpret complex medical information and apply appropriate codes.
  5. Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in coding and compliance with regulations.
  6. Effective communication skills to interact with healthcare professionals and provide education on coding practices.
  7. Adherence to professional and ethical standards ensuring confidentiality and integrity in handling patient information.
  8. Proficiency in using coding software, HER systems and other relevant tools.
  9. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to a positive working environment.
