Our client, a mutual benefit corporation and health plan provider, seeks an accomplished Azure DevOps Engineer .

*** Duration: 6 months contract w/ possibility of extension or conversion to FTE role
Notes:
- Pay Rate: $70.00/hr on W2.
- There may possibly be some travel required either to Oakland, CA or El Dorado Hills, CA office.
- Work Schedule: 9:00am - 5:00pm Pacific Time.
- Must have hands-on Azure Cloud experience. Must know the way around any shell or CLI interfaces. Have experience with design, dev, build, maintain.
Description:
- The Applications Support and Continuous Delivery team charter is to advance solution design disciplines where the end goal is to build and establish a solution engineering team to effectively build and evangelize DevOps development standards, content and specific requirements or guidelines development teams follow.
- This role will involve working with different members in development teams to design, propose, build, and ensure standards are comprehensive, realistic, and applicable to the work development engineers do.
- This technical leadership role will design processes through use of patterned solutioning that is replicable and reusable via coding standards, agile dev best practices (TDD, CI/CD, pair programming, code reviews, refactoring, sound documentation, IaaC, Containerization, Configuration Mgmt), building testability, be automation-centric, embrace operational NFR observability/SRE disciplines and cultivating quality craftsmanship that best supports operationalizing Development Portfolio outputs (services/products) and it s outcomes cleanly into Production.
- Critical capabilities in designing and building DevOps feedback loops and data-driven dashboard radiators will also be success factors driving Application Service operational engineering excellence.
- The Applications Solutions Engineer Principal will report to the Sr. Manager / Director.
- In this role you thrive best in creating impact by utilizing your full experiences, technical capabilities, training, and technical influence working with Development, Testing, Release, EA, and Infrastructure partners across the enterprise and developing operational solutions that will solve for delivery engineering consistency and reliability across Portfolio Application development disciplines.
- You will build practices and create new application development muscle by making designs operable and operational with replicability with individual product team levels to repeat engineering excellence best practices over, over, and over.
- Design, own, manage and execute IT application development solution engineering standardized common processes and disciplines where IT portfolios and Dev/Test teams will participate.
- Be a technical, tenacious, and resilient change leader.
- Review the solution architecture/design deliverables produced by vendor-supplied and FTE development teams ensuring approved patterns and best practices are followed.
- Partner with enterprise architecture team to understand enterprise technology roadmap and ensure the solution architecture/designs created by IT Portfolio teams reflect them.
- Provide leadership, mentorship and advisory services to IT portfolio and product agile teams to ensure that solutions are in-line with the strategic architecture direction.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving ability, analytical skills and activating modern development tooling.
- Participates with other senior leaders to establish problem statements, strategic plans, and objectives.
- Provide technical leadership establishing a competency center that educates other IT engineering staff surrounding service & cloud-based design & development practices.
- Effectively communicate approach, goals, value, risk, alternatives, and progression with executive & senior management, business sponsors, and product managers.
- Self-directed and team-oriented, works with limited management direction and exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
- Applies significant knowledge of IT and healthcare industry trends.
- Manage the technical debt identification and recommend resolutions to remediate and prevent.
Qualifications:
- Requires at least 10 years of prior relevant engineering experience.
- Strong technical acumen & deep working knowledge of Agile Methods, Service Architecture, and enterprise Cloud Integration. Must have worked as a change agent or buyer into modern DevOps engineering disciplines as a development engineer.
- Must have at least 1 year systems administration (shell scripts, unix, python).
- Must have primary expertise with Java, JS Angular, Bitbucket/GitHub, Jira toolkit integrations, Jenkins, Oracle, SQL, Unix, Python/Perl scripting. Cloud integration (Google, Azure), Docker/Kubernetes, Microservices, IaaC (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Technical Apps Solution Design / Dev experience having engaged experience work with Enterprise Arch (EA), Infra, ITSec, Data, agile dev scrum teams.
- Azure Cloud IT Systems Integration Analysis & Risks experience.
- Azure Cloud Designing and/or Azure Cloud hands-on administration.
- Someone who can understand script, workflow diagram tools, was once a developer and have built /deployed applications into Azure Cloud with understandings around load demands, configurations, and profiling costs to support given app in Azure Cloud.
- Preferred experience: Observability and exposure to SRE building monitoring/alerts systems. AppDynamics, SumoLogic, NewRelic, Spring Framework, Apache Camel, Kafka, REST, API, IBM API Connect, Gateway Script, IBM Data Power, OAUTH, Open-ID, FHIR, Tableau, Splunk, Business Objects, ServiceNow, Facets (Claims), Tidal, Informatica.
- Strong ability to influence, collaborate, and build relationships with key stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to assess potential opportunities, risks, and issues, and make recommendations to resolve or course-correct, as necessary.
- Ability to effectively manage meetings and work regularly with a variety of stakeholders.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to create, translate, and execute technical deliverables.
- Proven experience educating & influencing others and collaborating across all functions and levels in a highly matrixed organization.
- Healthcare experience in claims processing & payments is preferred (Facets, FHIR).
- Experienced with modern DevOps/Agile software development tools, industry protocols, troubleshooting & support procedures, monitoring & quality controls, and communication/documentation software.
- Reviews, analyzes, and modifies system solutions at the Application and Azure Cloud levels and documenting programs.
Additional (nice to have):
- Communication, presentation skills with varied technical teams.
- Ansible navigation and operation.
- Python, Shell scripting, CI/CD build deploy tools (GitHub, Jenkins).
