Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an IT Operations Director to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals on our Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program. CAEIO supports the DOS Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA), providing IT Operations and Maintenance (O&M) to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally.
The IT Operations Director is a member of the CAEIO program’s leadership team, reporting to the Program Manager.
Responsibilities
As a technical leader, the IT Operations Director:
- Develops and maintains the CAIEO program’s strategic operational road map, ensuring that information technology capabilities continually support CA’s strategic goals and objectives.
- Creates and implements IT policies and procedures that enable strong security and risk-management capabilities.
- Oversees the entire network and system infrastructure, ensuring proper configuration, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of security firewalls, sites/software, servers, data and file encryption, and internet connections.
- Ensures consistency and maintainability of existing infrastructure environments by creating, maintaining, and enforcingstandards and procedures for implementing technical solutions.
- Coordinates activities within the Operations team, which includes the service center, infrastructure support, systems support, and passport office support, and with the program’s engineering, operations, and business teams.
- Communicates projects’ status, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders, escalating issues to program leadership.
As a people leader, the IT Operations Director:
- Builds and nurtures a collaborative culture within an over 200-member Operations team and with partners and customers.
- Develops team and task leads and effectively delegates to them to execute 24x7 worldwide operations.
- Monitors team members’ performance and mentors team members to help them achieve professional goals and team and program objectives.
- Manages staffing levels and determines staffing needs to ensure that team skill mix addresses the customer’s critical priorities.

Core Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Work Location: Hybrid: remote AND up to two days per week in the office in Sterling, VA or Washington, DC.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET government security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
- 8+ years’ experience in a leadership role on large O&M programs with a track record of advancing continuous improvement.
- 2+ years’ experience leading worldwide, 24x7 mission critical application O&M in a complex enterprise.
- Experience with Agile management methodologies.
- Experience leading the successful technical, schedule, and cost performance of a major program, or multiple programs, through subordinate program/project managers, in accordance with contract requirements and company policies, procedures and guidelines.
Desired Qualifications
- Project Management Institute Project Management Professional Certification.
- ITIL 4 Certifications
- CISSP certification
- Experience supporting Department of State
Education and Experience: High school diploma (or equivalent) and 20+ years of experience; B achelor’s degree and 16+ years of experience; Master’s degree and 14+ years of experience; Phd and 10+ years of experience.

Target Salary Range
$176,000 - $282,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
