Overview

Stryten Energy is nearing completion of its new Lithium Ion Lab. The lab will be equipped with advanced instruments and equipment to conduct various tests on lithium battery products, designs, and prototypes. These tests will include functional, environmental, and UL-related evaluations. The lab will feature state-of-the-art equipment such as Automatic Chroma Cycling systems, Environmental Chambers, and Venturi Fume Hoods.

This lab is a critical part of our Lithium product portfolio. It enables in-house compliance testing on our current product offerings as well as R&D work to develop additional products and expand into more markets.

Responsibilities

  • The Lithium-ion Battery Technologist will setup and utilize instrumentation and test equipment and adhere to best practices for laboratory safety
  • Work with a team of scientists and engineers in development focused on materials and engineering systems of the Li-Ion Battery industry including:
    • Primary role will be to assist in prototype rechargeable lithium metal cell/module testing
    • Conduct performance testing and generate test results and supporting data in reports
    • Regularly inspect, manage, perform regular maintenance & calibration on laboratory test equipment
    • Assist in developing SOPs for testing, equipment/instrument operations, and calibrations.
  • As a member of the laboratory team, the Technologist position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments and insures timely and accurate test results.
    • General test setup
    • Taking pre and post-test measurements
    • Documenting tests through procedures, checklists, photographs, and high-speed video
    • Help with improvement of various processes / procedures throughout the lab
    • Support test setup / execution / tear down of various battery, cell and module tests
    • Operate various lab equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, data loggers and temperature chambers
    • Monitoring and inspection of extended duration testing
    • Simple fabrication / modification of basic test fixtures
    • Communicate directly with lab management and engineers to ensure a high level of technical support
    • Collect data, photos, and video of various tests
    • Compile test results and support test report development
    • Support technical root cause analysis and resolution of issues found during testing
    • Support testing at 3rd party laboratories
  • Work with engineers and external parties on fixture design and test instrumentation & optimization
  • Aids in maintaining Laboratory Request Systems, Log systems and Computer Server Systems.
  • Aids in monitoring lab work status.
  • Ensures Laboratory TAT (Turn Around Time) goals and standards are met.
  • Conducts other lab functions as deemed necessary by Lab Management.

Qualifications

  • Four Year Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline with a minimum of two year’s experience in development or quality laboratory environment
  • or Two-year degree in chemical technology with 4 years experience using electrical and chemical instrumentation
  • or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Understanding of lithium rechargeable battery fundamentals and testing requirements
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical principles
  • Familiar with quality standards (ISO 9001 & 17025, equipment metrology)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, startup lab environment
  • Hands-on experience in a chemical or battery testing laboratory
  • Proficient in data analysis
  • Self-motivated, has a strong willingness to learn, and has a can-do attitude
  • Familiarity with basic MS Word/Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time-management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Able to work effectively both independently and with other team members
